Revenant Class Skia Empire Dreadnought:

Overview: The largest ships observed of the Skia fleet. None were seen during the Skia war, however Union high command was shocked to see these beasts used in action during the Draken war, knowing if such ships had been used against the Union at the time, their eradication would of been unstoppable. Easily able to go toe to toe with a Union dreadnought the Revenant can also engage and hold its own vs a Nakai Or'Yoss class cruiser, packing enough firepower to wipe out fleets of lesser races vessels the Revenant has only been seen in small numbers, and whether it was 'created' after the Skia war or whether the Skia did not have time to deploy them during such, is still larely unknown. The Revenant now takes its place as one of the most powerful Union vessels, and sees constant combat in the Nakai war.

Armament: The Revenant class is armed with 9 Heavy Distortion Cannon emplacements on its appendages which can also fire hundreds heavy Shadow Beams. The Revenant also has full all round Phased Pulse Cannon capability and one heavy Distortion Cannon on its main core.

Phased Pulse Cannons: Seemingly fired from the Skia ships hull the Phased Pulse Cannon fires eerie 'blobs' or bolts of unstable matter at the target, seemingly able to Phase through enemy shield systems and hit the hull directly this form of exotic matter is highly volatile and reacts with the substances of the enemy vessel to destroy its own armour by using its own density and composition against it. The thicker the higher the density the armour the more vigorous the reaction. It is unknown what kind of exotic matter is used by this weapon however it is theorized that the exotic particles are tailor made to bypass the enemy shields and react with the opponents hull, this weapon also has a very high rate of fire and can seemingly fire in all directions from the hull like Nakai Quantum firebolts, however some smaller Skia craft have designated firing locations for this weapon.

Shadow Beams: A term coined by the Union sailors who fought the Skia during the Skia war, Shadow Beams are a type of beam weapon that fire pure black energy lances that are capable of slicing ships apart and inducing huge disruption effects throughout the ship. Theorised to be some kind of Planck frequency laser capable of bypassing shields and armour to target specific sections of the ship (or the whole ship) the resultant energy feedback caused by destroying critical systems often disables the ship outright, and so such weapons are often used when the Skia wish to take the target alive.

Distortion Cannon: The most feared weapon in the Skia arsenal, the Distortion cannon is a weapon that is fired from the Skia Core of a vessel itself, along with any secondary cores. A deep red in colour when observed from a particular point of view at other times the beam can be completely unseen. While not fully understood the weapon itself is believed to catalyse dark energy which is ambient everywhere inside the target causing immense energy release to tear the ship apart. Capable of coring a Ferrum class battleship with ease this weapon rightly earned the name ‘Reaper’ during the Skia war.

Defences: Skia Phase Skin: Skia vessels are made out of the same substance as their own skin. Some kind of phasic material which is incorporeal in real space, allowing objects to pass through it without any form of resistance while only giving a black ‘shadow’ like imprint on the fabric of reality which is what is visible to the naked eye.
Skia phase skin on their ships share the same phasic properties, enemy fire just passes through the ship effortlessly without inflicting any damage or losing momentum, the Skia cores being the only corporeal target capable of being hit. Due to the ships high speed this makes the ship incredibly resilient to fire and only phasic weapons have been observed to have any real effect on the phase skin, which seems to act like organic skin compounds, and displays rapid self-repair capability when damaged with weapons such as Phase missiles.
Skia Phase skin is also capable of completely phasing the entire vessel out of realspace, allowing it to avoid incoming fire (even at the Cores) and can hide the vessel from both the visible spectrum as well as a different number of detection types.
Skia Phase skin is a sentient substance, and must be bonded with a substance in order for it to be usable, this process is not understood and when the Union initiated the Dark Star project incomplete bonding led to the phase skin being more akin to bio-organic armour rather than properly phased. However with the new Apparition class allowing for in depth research on the bonding process and the phase skin as a whole.
Skia phase skin has also proven immune to interdiction methods, whether this is because it is truly immune or produces its own small normalisation field is not known and the Union is avid to find out more about this particular feature.

Power plant: Unknown: It isn’t currently known what powers Skia craft for definite, the Skia themselves being incredibly secretive about their technology. It is thought that the ships themselves somehow draw power from the universe around them using dark matter collection however the Union is attempting to research more into this matter with the advent of the Apparition class.

Electronic capabilities: 9x Skia Core: Skia Cores are incredibly interesting, they are sentient beings thought to be amalgamations of large numbers of Skia, combined into one gestalt consciousness. Capable of making decisions, storing monumental amounts of information, hacking even Union QAIs, firing the feared distortion cannon and more, the Skia Core is a true mystery for the Union of Worlds. While larger Skia ships have more than one smaller vessels only have a single core, which is the only physical part of the Skia vessel, and when shattered or destroyed the ship will merely vanish with a tortured scream over the communications channel. Skia Cores are capable of communicating and in joint ships completely controlling and overseeing the ship. Such a Core controlled the Dark Star alongside its crew, and the new Apparition class has much the same set up.

Stealth Capabilities: Skia Phase Skin: Skia Phase Skin is capable of rendering the vessel invisible to visible spectrum and other spectrums of detection, allowing it a good degree of stealth. It also allows the vessel to completely phase out, allowing it to either avoid detection, redeploy to a better location or avoid enemy fire.

Utility Capabilities: Unknown

Troop Complement: The Skia do not use troop transports or vessels to transport themselves to the surface of a world therefore the Revenant has no troop capacity.

Crew: None the Skia Core controls the entire ship, it has no need for Skia crew themselves.

Attack craft: The Revenant has been observed as carrying around 320 Skia Shuriken fighters which merely split off from its hull, returning to merge with the craft after combat.

Speed and Engines: Advanced Skia Gravitic Drive: Like most Skia technology the sub light engines of the Skia are little understood. Believed to be some kind of bias gravitic drive capable of stopping the craft mid-flight and pulling manuvers nigh on impossible for something with mass in conventional physics. This means the Skia ships are incredibly hard to engage and can attack from near any angle. It is thought that due to its phasic nature its lack of mass allows it to move as such, but more research is needed.

Skia Phase Drive: The Skia method of FTL is theorised to be some kind of cross between phasing out of the material universe and wormhole FTL. The travel time is near instant between the location and the current one allowing for a smooth transition to the target location. This method allows the Skia vessels to perform microjumps and long range jumps with equal ease to reposition themselves for better attack angles.
