Description The Dracograth, or Dragon-Guard, are Alexander's Royal Guard and the elite soldiers of The Empyraeum.

They were re-born directly from dragonfire, forged thus into something quite unique. Each Dracograth stands almost twelve feet tall without their armour, about two feet taller than their Kalshodar cousins. Their ornate armour, though functionally similar to normal Reflex Armour, is much heavier possessed of some interesting modifications. Their thirteen-foot "spear" (when they were remade in 319 BC/25 BE, there was no word in Greek for this kind of weapon, which was based on pre-existing Dwarf designs so they called it a spear) is equally effective, despite its equally ornate appearance.

Dracograth equipment is meant to be imposing and intimidating, palace guards for the effective ruler of mankind need to have a certain daunting feel to them. A twelve-foot giant in heavy golden armour with the head of a dragon and carrying a massive axe-like weapon certainly fulfill that role.

Their armour is fully functional Reflex Armour and their menacing helmet in the shape of a snarling dragon has the same hardware as the plainer Kalshodar variant. It is capable of sealing, the jaws locking together by "dropping and locking", allowing the Dracograth to see through the optics of helmet, rather than peeking out from between the golden teeth of the dragon's mouth, although that certainly is intimidating.

The Dracograth always stand guard in pairs and have learned not only to recognise one another by the eyes but also determine one another's moods the same way.

Do not let yourself be tricked by how the Dracograth are habitually seen around the Palace of Alexandria, immobile as statues only their eyes, framed by golden teeth, occasionally moving, for they are deadly warriors. Deceptively fast and agile, their Dwarf-made, rune-blessed axe-blade can dismantle even well-armoured enemies with ease. currently the record, set by Neshaa, was twenty-nine elite soldiers of The Council in under a minute and a half. Neshaa's Reflex Field protection was offline at the time so the number could easily be higher.

I wanted the Dracograth to clearly be allies of the Kalshodar but their armour to clearly reflect their role and means of rebirth. The dragon helmet was an idea I've had for a very long time and one of the first pencil drawings I made. This version is far superior to that. I wanted the Dracograth to be advancing, "Spear" in hand, moving as one naturally would when carrying such a weapon. His sheer bulk and presence is communicated on his posture too, though the flexibility of his amour's design is clear to see.

His armour is practical and that's what I wanted.
