Description It was a warm summer day and living on this world was quite different from where they were from. The sky wasn't purple for one thing and the bipedal inhabitants wore strange apparel that didn't seem to have much purpose. they wondered why they seemed to want blow up their city's and kill one anther. strange beings indeed. they were relaxing when a loud rumbling noise came over the street, soon a metal beast parked in front of there home. the metal beast let forth its inhabitants.they sat and laughed and didn't help there fellow beings in working on feeding the beast.
thats when one turned and said "Well, There goes the neighborhood, Zaphod"

So this is my finished diorama of a tiger tank getting resupplied while aliens watch. big thanks to for the name suggestion.
anyways here is what went into this one
1/35mini arts ruined buildings
1/35 tamiya early Tiger 1
1/35 tamiya German tank crew at rest
1/35 German tank ammo-loading crew
1/35 dog from a modern military set
1/35 sculpey aliens
and probably some other random details.

anyways thanks for looking, hope you enjoy viewing it as much as i did making it!

This is cool...LOL. I dig it. I like models and all but I think I enjoy well done diorama's a lot more. When I used to go to IPMS conventions with my dad I loitered in that section the longest.

by the way how do you get the skintone right on those figures flesh is too light how do i show the details in the face

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

enc86 In reply to shank117 [2012-08-07 14:23:36 +0000 UTC]

i do a wash on them, really brings out there faces/shading on cloths.

what i do is buy some artist acrylic paint(black and browns work well) i add a bit of water to the paint and apply in small areas on the figurine. then i wipe away the paint with a q-tip. this leaves the paint in the cracks and details.

I do like their little "putty" quality.
It gives a silly charm to it.
Which is what makes it so humorous.

What do you mean 'not very good at sculpting'? That's the most accurate 3-D depiction of a Betelgeusan I've ever seen! LOL.

Also, I believe I've identified Zaphod: In the balcony on the top window, next to the cat. That one looks the most like an air-head celebrity leaning out over a crowd of adoring fans.

enc86 In reply to WereOwl-In-Wisconsin [2012-07-31 22:23:15 +0000 UTC]

lol and thanks! i did a ton of research into the Betelgeusan race, but i think i was off on their noses.

And your right, that is Zaphod! he was a used vacuum sales alein back on Betelgeusan

I thought that looked more like Marvin the Robot. Or Arthur Dent, upset that he got sent to the wrong century yet again. Hard to tell. I blame the side-effects of the Infinite Improbability Drive.

Wait... I really hope I'm not the only one who read anything by Douglas Adams!! That would be kind of awkward...
