i like the smooth faded colors..I know its easy(ish) to do, but you did it quite nicely...I like the affect~

I like how the simple shading of clothing and hair contrasts with the more soft and realistic skin shading. A combination of different styles always looks good : D
And those swirly swirls on her sleeves!
I would love for her braids to be outlined a bit more though. (You know, the part where her braids are resting on her kimono)

the all-over design is awesome. I really love the details on her knees. The kimono is very elegant on her, it's so cute as a minidress/robe. I especially appreciate the detail put into the ruffles under the skirt of the kimono and the shirt under it. Very good work.
You shouldn't really put it into scraps in my opinion. I think the foreground picture is great, so it's not scrap worthy. The only thing I'll nit-pick is the backround, which you have mentioned.
Keeping the background a solid color like that green or lavander would have made the girl pop right at the viewer. It's overall great.
