Such a little thing so far from home. Home. What an odd idea for a sapling. To be taken from their original place and grown in an oversized bowl until they were considered good enough to be brought to somewhere else. Seemed kinda how most wynglings had it. The egg brought someplace and taken care of until they were considered strong enough to be moved to a new home.

I wonder if this sapling is unhappy? If they were part of the typical system, or if something happened. Maybe they were going to grow next to its parent trees, but then the parent trees got chopped down. Then instead of being left to be trampled on, they moved it to somewhere new… Somewhere where others could take care of it and love it, but...

It could never feel it. It just couldn’t. All it had known had been ripped away. Loving parents in a beautiful home, just right placement to feel all the warmth of the sun it could ever need, kept from being drowned in heavy rains by its parent’s cover. Yet now all it could feel was the suffocating shade of these new trees towering over it. It was settled into foreign soil by strangers that told it everything would be okay, but how could it?

What right did they have to look you in the face and say you’ll be happy when they’d never felt the same loss? How could other saplings that were part of a standard, accepted system look you in the face and say ‘Get over it, at least you got to have parents’? What kind of logic is that? It hurts more to lose something you had than to never have it, shouldn’t that be obvious? It wasn’t fair. It just wasn’t fair. What did he do to deserve this? Was he not grateful enough for his parents’ affections? Did he not help out enough? Should he have worked more to become stronger for them? What did he do?
