awful photo alert wow I really need a scanner ;n;anyway here is Kyogre drawn entirely in ballpoint pen; blue, cyan, purple, red, pink and black (the pink wasn't really necessary but I may as well count it) yeahhhhh
it took a while but I think it's pretty cool anyway haha
Eventually I will offer commissions like this - once I get a fur technique going!

Might I ask what sort of pens you use?
I've been searching for some good colored ballpoints myself and I've had some difficulty.

I use run-of-the-mill BIC and Staedtler, I think. There's a couple of different tip widths, and the blue-red-black are finer than the other colours i picked up.
Whichever ones you end up getting.. ink blots are a constant headache :T

I sketch in ballpoint pens almost constantly now, and the sketches are starting to get ahead of themselves haha; so I had to do some full drawings to see what would happen.

For ballpoint, this is pretty damn impressive.... in Drawing class we've had to use ballpoint sometimes, it's interesting just what kind of effects you can get from it.
Did you start with a light outline, or did you just do the art by creating areas of lighter, darker, and more denser or more spaced-out pen marks?

I do all my scribbles in my sketchbook in ballpoint cause it's just cleaner than pencil ..except for ink blots B (
I sketched this in pencil, and started the penwork just uh .. pretty much randomly I think. I started on his nose with the darker blue and finished most of the body with that before going onto other shades.

Ink blots = enemy. They are the tumours of the pen sketch world.
Ah so probably a light sketch in pencil, I'd imagine? It's what I would do. Random can work well, you can figure it out on the way. I think that's how a lot of work happens? You don't always get the result you imagined... unless you are like awesome at that stuff, I know I'm not.
Your realistic pokemon are just awesome, not like my realistic pokemon which I HAVE NOT FINISHED FALKSFJHAIHF but I should finish that sometime, the one with a meganium and a charizard nest.
So in this piece you started with darker shades first, then moved onto light shades?
(Btw... it's been way too long since I've heard from you. I've missed you... in terms a friend can miss another, haha. Morgan's the only friend I have decent contact with nowadays out of the ol' group...)
