Description So, I recently bought a Holga camera. I'd been planning on not using the film it was built for, but 35mm film that you can get practically anywhere.

These cameras are known for having really bad (good) light leaks. The only thing that I covered for this roll was the red window on the back. It was covered with clear tape, drawn on by a black sharpie. As you can see... sharpie doesn't keep out light at all. I'll be using electrical tape next time.

Regardless, I really like this roll and figured it'd be best to display the entire thing instead of doing it one pic at a time.

The colors that came out of this, I think are awesome.

Yes, if you look closely, those are my fingerprints.

I wish I had a holga.

That's certainly an interesting effect. Anyway to control it?

Not really. I've noticed that every roll of film that I take with this camera comes out wildly different. The film here was scanned in and then color corrected in Photoshop. The photo place I took it to to get it developed said there was nothing on it... obviously they were wrong. They do that every time I get my film developed there... even though I tell them they'll probably see nothing when they develop it.

Anyway, I've got some more film to "fix" so there may be some more uploads like this later on.

Also, welcome back!

Haha, yeah, I love the odd looks when ordinary people get confused by the process of creativity. It's ironic, because when they see the finished product they always say "Oh I wish I could do that!"

sweeet. did you have to take this to a professional lab to get them to develop it? ive heard that the 1hr places often dont know what to do with 35mm shot on a holga without 35mm adapter frame

Nope, took it to a drugstore. Just be sure to let them know to not cut it after they develop it.

If you want prints, that's an entirely different story, as their equipment can't handle super wide 35mm prints.

I to picked up a holga, but some 120 film... but I reall y like this alot better! Did you re-spool or use foam to hold in your 35mm film?

I used foam for this. Just cut up a sponge and stuck it around the originating roll, taped the film into the spool on the right and stuck some cardboard in the bottom between the spool and camera body to keep it from moving too much.

btw, when rewinding the roll, stick a towel under the door. I had 2 rooms of darkness between me and the light with all doors closed (and carpeted floors) and some light still got in anyway.

hmmm... thanks much! I've been contemplating getting a cheap camera bag but a closed off light proof room works too

Yeah, I just re-spooled mine in my bathroom... which is why there are fingerprints on this roll (it was hot and my hands were sweaty). I don't mind though. It just adds to the craziness of the results.

did you get the negatives uncut?

I did get them uncut. I specifically asked them to develop the negatives only. Also, I do have a negative scanner, but at the time it wasn't working so I just used my regular scanner and then fixed the colors in photoshop.

Therefore, you should be fine . Also, I got the film developed at a local drugstore. As long as you tell them what you need exactly (and it's not too complicated), you should be fine in getting the results you want.

i brought my medium format film (that's what google says about the translation of mittelformatfilm haha.) to a drugstore in my hood. i wasn't sure which format i should choose, at home i realised that it was the wrong one and i hope, they won't cut off too much of the motive.

oh, i didn't know that it works with a regular scanner as well. maybe it's a worth a try with 35mm then.

This is almost better then had it gone right and you showed one or two images at a time. Very cool as a whole. I have a Holga but sadly haven't done anything with it.
