I wish I had the opportunity to see her. Sadly her excursions are limited this year. Her last scheduled run (according to the steam excursion schedule on the NS website) is the weekend of July 4th.

You got that right. If she doesn't come to Cincy soon, there will be some angry railfans; the N&W Powhatan Arrow used to come through Cincinnati and was pulled by Class J locomotives like 611.

Indeed, soon, perhaps, the Powhatan arrow will be revived in the form ofย an excursion.

Maybe... It would be hard to make a Powhatan Arrow excursion; the original N&W Cincinnati-Portsmouth "Peavine" that the Powhatan Arrow ran on was abandoned by NS a few years ago. Cincinnati East Terminal now operates part of the Peavine near Cincinnati.

I at least hope it goes to Bristol, VA. I love that area because SOU #630 operated in the area on the ET&WNC, and the N&W Abingdon Branch is close by too. The Abingdon Branch got fame for it's "Virginia Creeper" local, and was well-photographed by O. Winston Link.

I love the Abington branch! Such an adorable line with small towns, breathtaking scenery, little freight/passenger mixed trains, and the famous NW 4-8-0s. Too bad its gone. O Winston Link did such a good job capturing that line, and others on the NW.

There is now a trail along the line, andmany rrestored structures still stand. At the beginning of the trail in Abingdon, there is a 4-8-0. It is what I use for my icon on DA.

Ah, I see. I always liked the N&W 4-8-0s.

They are some nice engines, and the queen of them is 475 in Strasburg.
