“There are two kinds of people in this world: Those who believe there are two kinds of people in this world and those who are smart enough to know better.” - Tom Robbins (Still Life with Woodpecker).
While it's a great quote, and unarguably has a certain amount of truth in it, the separations of personality, the variations of human reaction has always been fascinating to me. The older I get the easier it is to differentiate the two types of people I often come across, one of which is stagnant, the other who is driven. I've no use for the former anymore, and some time ago made it a point to mute their voice and remember that wisdom is sometimes salt whenever possible... but the latter, well, they are my people, they are my kind, they are the ones who drive me to go harder, they are my everlasting light and infinite inspiration. They feed off of my fruition and I feed off of theirs, the relationship is one of delicate balance and perpetual pushing, it is a life long love affair with the kindred enlightened, it is the race for the ones which can't be called rats. It's simply life for the other side, it's the lust of labor for the selected few.
We all hold mad energy, we all have a fierce current running through our veins. The art of life is learning to harness this energy, the talent some speak of is merely the skill of channeling this energy into ones work.
Yesterday I had a meeting at work with one of these driven people, and it left me baffled at how strong this current sometimes is... and the amazing thing is that this guy isn't even an artist (that I know anyway), but he's a firecracker of a human being, and every encounter I've had with him has blown my mind simply because he understands how to be here now, and how to speak, and how to interact with people as few do anymore. I already work for him, and am hoping to utilize my creativity to benefit our business in the near future by heading up his social media division and taking care of the photography needed for such an endeavor. It's the first time in my life I've been excited about having the opportunity to infuse my passion for creativity into my job, and while it may be a lot to handle, I welcome the challenge and look forward to seeing what I can do with it.
It's all about the latter faction of humanity. The driven drive culture and society, the driven navigate where we as people go and the progress we make as a whole.
