Im curious, do you own the spiders or do you find them in the wild? And you must not be scared of them at all to get THAT close to one, unless if thats just the zoom?

Both actually. Β For years I only found and shot them in the wild, but recently I've started to catch and house them. Β I've also been introduced to a breeder who has provided me with some of the rare species that I don't normally have access to. Β Right now I'm keeping about 7 jumpers. Β And I never use zoom, I almost always use the reverse technique, which means my working distance (or how close I am to the spider) is usually between 4-8 inches, at most. Β There is no reason to be scared of Salticidae, I've never been bite by one and handle them routinely. Β

Well you are a special person then because I am scared to heck of them. I hink.. I think spiders are so cool and I write them into my stories or I'll draw a hybrid character now and then, but I get so scared when I'm close to the real thing. Im slightly envious of you, mostly because your jumpers are super cool, I can't say I feel the same about the crab spiders or the magnolias; the longer legs do scare me a bunch.
