This is the reason why HDR-photography is invented. You've really understood the very nature of the term "High dynamic range"
This pic is very powerful in very many ways and yet it avoid unnecessary drama and the mistakes that too many HDR-photos are full of. The colours, the sharpness and the composition rock high 'nd loud!

I agree with your thoughts on HDR... most people just blow it out and forget why the technique was created in the first place. But I think it is priceless in the realm of nature photography, being that is where the forefront dslr's fail due to light/camera issues/shadows/etc... Thanks again, glad you took notice.
