Description Some TLK fanart after a while!!

If you don't know who these characters are, they are Mohatu and Uru. Mohatu appeared in a book called "The Brightest Star" where he was introduced as Mufasa's grandfather. Uru is named in a Six New Adventures book called "A Tale of Two Brothers" as Mufasa and Scar's mother.

Now while Ahadi is Mohatu's son in my verse, I did have this idea I wanted to play around with. Uru being Mohatu's heir is a fairly common story used by many of my favorite artists on here, but I wanted to give my own little twist on it. Here, Uru is Mohatu's heir, but she isn't his daughter by blood.

The story goes like this.

King Mohatu took the throne when he was fairly young after his own father. As was expected of him, he married a lovely lioness who was a fiery queen, and they prepared to have cubs. Unfortunately, she passes away (probably with something to do with the hyenas and hence Mohatu banishes them) and the King is left heirless and heart broken. Despite the advice given to him, he doesn't take any other mate, his heart still lying with his late queen. While he rules fairly and wisely, panic begins to set as he goes by in years. The Pridelands creatures begin to wonder what will happen once their beloved King passes away.

And like fate, Mohatu one day comes across the body of a lioness who died giving birth while out on his patrol. The lioness didn't belong to his pride, rather she was a rogue. However, upon investigating closer, Mohatu finds that one of the cubs has survived. He brings the cub home, and against everyone's better judgement, the old King raises the cub as his own. He names her Uru, his diamond, the jewel of his eyes. Raising the cub filled a hole inside his heart that had been empty ever since his queen had died. Uru was spunky, rambunctious and she flourished under the watchful eye of the lion she would call "Father."

The two would share a bond that would astound the rest of the pride. It seemed that under everything, both of them gave each other the love they lacked themselves. For all intents and purposes, Uru was Mohatu's daughter, and he forbade anyone from saying otherwise. And sure, the Prideland lions warmed up quickly to the young cub, and seeing how she showed many of Mohatu's own traits, they welcomed her as Mohatu's heir.

But it was not so for other prides. Many of the other kingdom prides looked down on Uru due to not being of royal blood, and they never failed to make snarky comments during pride summits. Mohatu would come away irritated, and Uru would come away dejected. She knew she wasn't her father's actual daughter, but did that change anything? She was raised by him, loved him with all her heart. Did it matter that she wasn't related to him by blood?

Many outsiders feared that Uru's "rogue blood" would overpower the gentleness and wisdom Mohatu had bestowed upon her and she would betray him one day. No kingdom wanted their prince married to a rogue, hence no King approached Mohatu for an alliance. Despite this, the aging king didn't pay any heed and simply showered his adopted daughter with as much love as he could give.

But then one day, Uru would meet charming Prince Ahadi, the second born of a neighboring kingdom. His older brother was next in line, and hence had received all the attention. Starved for affection, Ahadi would spend his time in other pursuits and less time in learning administration. However, when he meets Uru, she steals his heart. Ahadi goes against his family for his love, despite their protests that "she isn't even royal by blood! You need a good wife of noble background!" He goes against Uru's protests that his family mattered, and that she was nothing. For his love, Ahadi finds himself exiled from his home kingdom and runs away to the Pridelands, where Mohatu, older and close to his last days, welcomes him with open arms. The old king gives Ahadi and Uru his blessing, thanking Ahadi for his sacrifices and telling him to love Uru with all he had, and never let this love go.

Saying so, Mohatu would peacefully pass away in his sleep, and Uru would ascend the throne of the Pridelands, with Ahadi as her King.

I tried to make Uru the absolute opposite of Mohatu. If Mohatu was warm and dark colored, Uru was bright pelted and cooler. His soft features would be contrasted by her scruffier and sharper features.

This isn't how Uru actually looks in my verse tho, since in my verse she has Scar's dark pelt. Mohatu's design tho, is. I just really like those colors for him and am hesitant to change them since I struggled a lot to arrive at them.

This was fun to play with, and I played around with the background a bit more.

Hope you like it!

EDIT: Just added some features I missed and some more lighting. I feel it looks better now!

ooo I like this idea! You don't see this sort of storyline too often

In my verse Mohatu is not Uru's father, he's Ahadi's, but the two have a very close bond regardless. With Ahadi being his only child, Uru is like the daughter he never has. However their connection does make her actual father Jambazi angry, as he secretly doesn't like Mohatu (for personal reasons)

That's still cool! It's okay to have different storylines, it means more to explore!

Ye, the one reason Uru and Mohatu in my verse get so close is she and Ahadi are betrothed as cubs, her family owned a small piece of land that merges into the Pridelands, so they move to Pride Rock, and Mohatu is often her teacher since he knows how to rule such a large kingdom.
Her dad can't argue with that logic but he still glares spooky like from the shadows.

I haven't drawn my verse in a while, but I need to once I update my refs for Mohatu, his queen, Uru and her family (Ahadi has been updated) :'D
