My brother was on the bridge 5 minutes before it collapsed. Thank God he got out alright. Meanwhile I was in summer camp oblivious to the whole thing. I'm sorry to those of you who lost someone dear.

Wow. You were there? I wasn't there when it happened, but I had just ridden my bike past the bridge 20 minutes before hand.

i went over the I-35 in O5' it gave me chills knowing the bridge was way overdue for repairs even back then, and there was a chance for a failure at that time...

people are FREAKING OUT about the kids on the bus.
They're FINE.
there's at LEAST twenty cars UNDERWATER
and people are MISSING.
DEAD under a bridge, lungs filled with water.
"POOR KIDS!"
they're fine.
Now lets worry about the fullly grown adults, or even babies, underwater.
dead or loosing limbs.
kay?
kay.
(this is a really good picture. Shows in detail how devestating it is.)

I was a little annoyed as well with all the attention the bus got. What about the driver in the flaming semi? Or the cars under water - one of which had a pregnant mother inside. Yeah it's terrible that children on a school bus were involved, but they are alive and well - a lot better off than many others. >.<

A friend of mine that worked at the U crossed that bridge everyday coming home from work. Thank God she became a stay-at-home mom a couple of months ago. My heart goes out to all of Minneapolis/St. Paul.

God....What a mess. >.> I hope no one you knew was involved.
Apparently my mum had just been in the area. She's fine though. Thanks for sharing this.

So sad. It really puts things in perspective; we can never guess what will happen in the future.

isn't it weird when your local news becomes national news?

Yeah strange when you see something on CNN/Fox/MSNBC and you were just standing there next to it 20 minutes prior.

Agreed.
My uncle in Florida told me about it.
We were having dinner and he called us.
We went over the bridge at 5:30.
It scares me this stuff. D:
