Twilight, what are you doing in that water? You are primarily a land mammal, get out of there. And why do you have a pillow on your head? That won't protect you from the harsh environment of the ocean, get out of there before you catch a cold. You're such a silly pony.

It's the annual migration of the rare and highly endangered Pillowhead Twilight Sparkles.

EonEvolution In reply to LavaZombie [2012-02-22 22:35:29 +0000 UTC]
They always migrate north this time of year for Winter Wrap Up.
π: 0 β©: 1
LavaZombie In reply to EonEvolution [2012-02-22 22:53:38 +0000 UTC]
They normally live by the equator in tropical water, but if they don't stop the winter up north, it will affect the seas they live in. So the remaining members of the species conjugate and head north to help the land-going ponies wrap up winter.

It's a biannual ritual; many people gather along the coasts to watch the migration.

But where do they give birth?
π: 0 β©: 1
EonEvolution In reply to LavaZombie [2012-02-23 02:03:59 +0000 UTC]
Precisely where the Equator and the Prime Meridian intersect. They cannot find appropriate breeding ground anywhere else on the planet and they only produce one offspring once every century. However, they can live for hundreds of years.

LavaZombie In reply to EonEvolution [2012-02-23 02:20:05 +0000 UTC]
And they are mysteriously endangered.
π: 0 β©: 1
EonEvolution In reply to LavaZombie [2012-02-23 02:32:55 +0000 UTC]
Well they've only had so many years to breed. And in the earlier years, they were hunted, hindering their numbers.
