Elegantly Enchanting

The butterfly was elegant
like a piece of the night sky cut into tiny wings.
Fluttering so beautifully in the radiant sun
as though fleeing from the darkness of night.
Slipping through the cracks of the rising sun.
Hidden by the shadows of trees...
Away from the watchful eye of the moon.
Freed by a glorious star from the purgatory of darkness.
Given the gift of freedom because he’s seen the light.
A light unlike the eerie glow of the waxing moon.
Or the twinkling of the distant stars.
A light bright and shining.
Blinding to one such as he.
Unfamiliar but embracing it’s warmth
As though it was his own life giving force.
Comforted by the release of his own hell.
Enduring so many nights through out each and every day.
Always watchful of the demons lurking in the shadows.
No longer held down by the chains that imprisoned him there.
Scarred by his ordeal but not dwelling in his past..
Living today for today is right now
Tomorrow has yet to be today.
And yesterday is no more.
Embracing the sun and enjoying his freedom
the black butterfly with stars on his wings flutters,
elegantly enchanting.
