Description
This was inspired by one of my favorite novels, Oscar Wilde's "The Picture of Dorian Gray", the riveting tale of a young man who sells his soul to the devil for the sake of eternal youthful beauty.Of course, I identify most with Basil Hallward, the artist who immortalizes the beauty of his beloved Dorian with whom he is irrevocably captivated.

Fantastic ! Great atmosphere ! I love this book ! Have you read the comic version of Dorian Gray by Enrique Corominas (www.amazon.com/Dorian-Gray-Fre... www.yozone.fr/spip.php?article... ? It's very closed to the portrait you've made. It's in french, I don't know if there is a translate of it. But it's really beautiful.

To tell the truth, when I clicked on this picture's thumbnail I thought it was a fanart from Lestat when he was going through that phase of "bad skin days" XD
And I was pleasantly surprised to know it was a take on Dorian Gray, one of my fave stories from one of my fave authors ever!
I really like how you use the lighting to add an even more somber note to the whole thing X33 And the hand! And the damage in his face!

Yes! Oscar Wilde is brilliant! I still awed by Dorian Gray each time I reread.
Ah yes, I've always been fond of back lighting so I was glad that back lighting--as opposed to any other more standard lighting--was most suitable for this painting, given the dark mood. I'm thinking of possibly doing another interpretation of Dorian Gray but we shall see.

Awesome! I really like the touches of light that illuminates his coat and horrifying face. It's like a "creepy revelation to what he's become" kind of feeling. I like the dark background too

Thanks so much! The overall purplish tint gives it a sort of fantasy feel I think. XD That and I didn't want to make the colors all murky with black.
