“Wow, you must have been lying down here for a long time. How does it
feel, seeing the sunlight again?

Elisabeth was tidying up her apartment. In a box that used to be a high school athletics rival, underneath a folded, old tablecloth that once was an unlucky woman who passed by Elisabeth when the witch had just thought of a cute design, she came across this unfortunate couple.

“So, Who exactly were you poor things again? | don’t seem to remember. Were you old friends? Coworkers? Probably not, if | had known you personally Id probably still recognize you, somehow.”

They had likely been strangers to her, Elizabeth concluded. She wondered what they had done to deserve this fate. Did they make too much noise when sitting at the table next to her in a restaurant? Did they cause the line at the ATM to be just slightly too long? Or were they simply the victims of one of Elizabeth’s creative streaks during long, boring college classes: a lovey-dovey couple she decided to unite forever, perhaps? She had no idea.

“It seems like | didn’t let you people keep your mouths, so asking you would be no use. | can’t tum you back either...”

The pairs of eyes opened widely again.

“Oh yes, you probably were wondering about that. Spells like these are permanent, you see.”

The eyes dropped in sadness.

“Anyways, I guess we could all learn Morse code or something and have you blink your story to me. That'd be quite bothersome though, and I was Just busy doing something else: cleaning up my place. Not exactly a good time to be discovered as a dirty old Q-tip...”
