I was imagining this exact same thing as I was reading that part of the book. Β Up to this scene, it had not really occurred to me just how messed up the characters and story was. Β Absolutely love "Lord of the Flies" and definitely count it as part of my literary foundation (along with The Scarlet Letter).

Damn, we're reading this in school and I have no idea of the story so far (the bad things haven't happened yet) but this looks so awesome and promising. It really makes me wish being able to read further (but I don't want to spoiler myself).

It's worth it, if you ask me. A lot of older books are a bit difficult to get into at first, because the way they used to write was very different, but the story itself is horrifying once you get past that. Good horror isn't about the monster, it's about who you are when there is nothing left to hide behind.

We have only read chapter 1 but I really like the writing style and the character design. Sadly, I cannot read any further since we read it together in class, otherwise I would have finished this already a while ago I think. X'D
And I like old-fashioned writing styles a lotΒ as long as it is comprehensible.
I really wonder what will happen next. But I guess some of they guys won'tΒ endure their island stay that well.
