For once, I tried to make the center of attention not at a dress but at a background. Of course, I wanted to kill myself for it. As much as I love Ariel, I loved the andersen's tale better. She dissolved into the water and turned to daughter of air. I feel that this version is much more meaningful than Disney's. It wasn't just about love, it was about her wanting to explore the world, wanting to know more about the world, and her curiosity. She did meet her end for love, but it was also about a promise of a soul in the afterlife.BG pattern: [link]

I never knew the original story of Ariel and I agree that it is much better, a lot of Disney movies (excluding Pirates of the Caribbean) are way too predictable and similar. The water is truly amazing and I think this may just be one of my favourite works on deviantART

I think that disney story, despite the abundant clitche, is good for younger kids who dream of a perfect ending. beautiful, perfect, and everything will turn out alright and live happily ever after. though it's unrealistic, it at least give them a good impression of the world before they get squashed by reality. lololol!!!
