Description Well, i fixed some stuff, but im not gonna do any more revisions, although i changed the wheels now and the back interlocking wheel too, moved some weird stuff a bit, changed the commander hatch a bit, removed all textures (heh)

Its not 100% close to Blueprints but meh Im well aware i gotten a bit lazy with the hooks and some parts on the hull..

Well anyway, notexture still looks the coolest imo..

Oh yeah, also changed the light a bit, so now theres an actual shadow (heh) forgot that completely

Also made all wheel parts instances, so i can change them quickly, and animate them properly (if ever, hah)

Well thats that, next up.. Gepard Or a scene, we'll see, by then i may decide to model all the stuff thats needed for actual combat variant of this tank (this is the stock look)

Very nice model. It reminds me a little of the Merkava. How many polygons are we looking at here? Did you use Sub-D anywhere?

no, its all polygonal, except some of the bars and frames, which are nurbs.. (converted to poly, to speed up rendering)

after all is converted to poly we look at 130k polygons .. and .. a lot of objects and meshes

Lots of waste going on with the rivets though, when i made them i had them all an instance and accidently converted them with 32 cylinder sides, so thats ALOT of polygons right there

Ah well..

And yeah, Isreals Merkava looks a bit similiar

Saaay... That there is a fine looking tank model. I thought about modeling a tank myself but I never got to it. Mainly due to the lack of good reference images.

Work like this does push me to try it out tho.

Thanks, and i hope you do, considering your skills with mechs

i guess you know this site? [link]

For reference blueprints, in case you get bored and want to try a tank

Yea I know that site. It's a good place to find reference pics. Unfortunately it mostly has only the traditional stuff. There are some more obscure things I'd like to model but it's just impossible to find pictures like that...

Heh well, if you got time you can allways model from photo, like i did (no blueprints used at all, only to get some idea for some very odd bits, mainly the sloped armor (very odd formed, i might add)

Or just model freestyle

I hate doing freestyle. It's pretty much all I've done so far. Would be a nice change if I could just use a blueprint.

No textures? That's some really nice detailing then! Excellent work, I checked out the ones without textures and I prefer this clay version more, only because it let's you appreciate all the details...

Yeah, i prefer the clay versions too, actually i tend to allways post both versions when i can.. the white/contrast look is kinda cool imo
