Description A magical night in Mizpe-Ramon, Israel.
There was a meteor shower, so they blacked out the entire area to make the sky less light-polluted.
The result was magnificent - I've never seen a clearer, more star-filled sky. The milky way was right there in all its glory.

The observatory you see in the bottom right is built right on Ramon crater's verge.

30sec exposure, ISO3200. Luckily I had my friend's 5D MKII

I've been trying for soooo long to get a shot like that but I never get so many stars because I'm living in Geneva and the sky isn't really clear ^^''
I tried everything, 30 sec, going up to 12800 ISO, taking various frames and then using deep sky stacker...

Well, anyway, that's beautiful! The colors are really amazing!

Absolutely fabulous. This makes me think, along with all of our other holidays and such, we should have a "black out" day, or even a week-long festival so that everyone could experience the sky 'au natural' .

Awesome.
How did you get rid of the noise at 3200iso?

Thanks,
The noise performance of the 5DII is simply amazing. With a bit of post-processing it's not hard to get rid of all color-noise and some of the grain. I just used noise reduction carefully.

I'm so jealous of you cause I haven't seen a meteor shower once

Hahahaha the thing that I read is an observatory pulled ALL my attention... it was like "Oooh how clear the--- wtf's that thing on the right bottom corner??"

Awesome timing, great picture, hope you've wished for something for every meteor you saw... you should!!
