Description Somewhere in the eastern outskirts of Dresden, Germany.
Pentacon Six TL, Carl Zeiss Biometar 80 mm lens, Fuji Reala 160.

Transience squared. All these ruins are what remains of much of the industrial tradition of Eastern Germany. I was so happy when I found this, but soon I came to realize that the paradise of ruins like this is disappearing too. There was no one there when I saw this, but apparently people are stripping this magnificent 19th century complex. Back home, this would probably be a listed building, but I can't blame anybody - there's no money to restore all these and there's not enough people to use them for no matter what.
But for now, nature seems to win.

Note the half-timbered wall in the back, I've never seen that in a factory of this size and age, but I'm not an expert.

If you're not above some Symphonic Rock, or progrock as it seems to be called these days:

Next week I promise I'll calm down again.

Oh, I live very close to this place! I had to take some courses in architecture during my studies and our professor told us that there are even more of those ruins in Leipzig... it's simply too expensive for Saxony to keep all of them, so unfortunately, all of these beautiful ruins will be torn down some day

Well, at least the Spinnerei is safe, I visited that one too. We also saw some empty factories in Lausitz - beautiful but doomed.
Do you know the name of this factory, or what it produced? I only had time for a brief stop when I visited it...

There are many industrial ruins in Saxony and it's really a shame because some of them have a beautiful architecture. Unfortunately, I can't tell you much about this ruin, I think it must already have been closed down for a long while because I only know it as an empty and slowly rotting complex...

That is what I like about the east of Germany - nicht so geputzt und gepflegt. I like it when things look there age.

He was one of the guitar heroes of my youth. And this piece is one those bits of music that's always ready in the back of my mind to pop up.

I love your style. For me, with the GabrielΒ΄s voice, your guitar sound was the registered mark of Genesis
