Ah, the joys of insomnia... I've been a bit quiet after my DD, so please forgive me for posting two pictures a day. I will calm down, honestly.Left to right: a barp, a trüüt (rhymes with "lewd") and a ronflonflö. No seriously, I made these names up, but at some time or another these were all intended as genuine musical instruments.

If my memory serves me well (and you may well doubt that after seeing this), this was on an exhibition of musical instruments in the San Lorenzo, Venice.

I had to work hard to get mine right with postwork, the light wasn't easy.

It's been there for four years? It looked like a temporary exhibit. They were calling it the Vivaldi museum. I liked the historical luthier's shop, along with the weird iinstruments like that thing with strings and a brass bell.
The lighting was terrible, and no setting on my Canon Elph was adequate to the task. Much fiddling around (so to speak) in GIMP only yielded visibility.

I know what you mean, I felt like it would be only temporary too. I can't remember what they called it when I was there, but I would have remembered it if they called it the Vivaldi museum at the time. I would be clever move though, regardless of his quality Vivaldi is one of the best-known composers and there wasn't anything like a house or a museum for him.

No, just a plaque on the outside wall of a church saying he'd been born in that parish and was baptized there. It was in Castello, but I couldn't see a sign giving the name of the church and I'd left my map in the room. You probably know it. I didn't get around to exploring that end of town as much.

Castello has some dull parts, but also spots that seems genuinely unspoiled, where the Venetians have been left to themselves.

I saw some pretty odd instruments when I visited the Musical Instrument Museum in Berlin...like the double harpsichord (with two keyboards on adjacent sides of a rectangular box) and a piano with an angled sound board. These take the cake though.
