Description A little quiet Sunday morning deviation.

A dear friend advised me to post this, and who am I to go against advise like that.

This was shot on the same evening as "Today we had cowleg fog". The little stream you see is the Kromme Rijn, which was the main stream of the Rhine until it was blocked off by a dam in the Middle Ages. You're looking at the border of the Roman Empire here.
Believe it or not, but about twenty years ago this landscape came within a hair's width of being replaced by a 6-lane highway. After furious protests the highway was moved slightly westward, causing less damage.

Some light correction (curves) in Corel PSP XII ultimate.

Part of my "Cowleg Diaries": my journal of the beauty just a few minutes cycling from my home, a beauty that often blows me sideways. [link]

Beautiful!! I've fallen in love with all the amazing landscapes in Netherlands... We had heavy fog one morning when we where near to Aalden, and we loved that because that's not usual in Barcelona.
Great work Eric!

Thank you, Sergio! It's nice I can give you this happy memory! You've been lucky, it's not something you can count on.

Already two people have expressed firm intentions to visit this. I guess after the 2012 Devmeet in the Gettymuseum, I'll have to arrange a Transatlantic or Eurofornia Devpicknick here.

It would be very strange, I think.
Or maybe not. To me DA can give such an illusion of closeness, that it's sometimes hard to imagine for me that to almost no one here I've even chatted, let alone heared their voices on the phone or something. Of course, some comments come quicker than chat replies.

I agree. So much goes into knowing a person...body language, tone and eye contact! I think about this too at times.

The largest part of communication is non-verbal. I've forgotten the "exact" percentage, but anyway, it didn't include...

emotes!

That's a simiote! Although many people have a high opinion of simiotics, no doubt.

OK, that does it. We're all coming to your house! I could use some tranquility ... although those ducks look rather worked up about something.

Such a nice colour balance to these scenes. That has been one of my pet peeves lately--deviants who manipulate their photos to death but never say what they've done and don't put them in the Photomanipulation category. Just call me old-fashioned (or plain old "old").

Well, actually stuff that's just filtered and textured should be in Lightroom - Manipulation is for serious cute-and-pasting; DA isn't always obvious with its names. But I understand what you mean.
I tried to do as little as possible to these pictures - I want to show and share the beauty that's there at that place at certain times, not cheat people with photoshop bells and whistles.
