Thanks man. I liked Ross's version a lot. This oldie was based off some character sketches he had in a Wizard art of pamphlet that came out before the books dropped.

I have that pamphlet too! I love all of Ross' works and capturing the essence of his version is juz awesome! Speaking of Ross, he's got an Invaders/New Avengers mini coming out sometime this year.

Same here... he rarely does the pages himself. DC's Justice was phenomenal! he painted every page of 12 issues! Im not a DC fan but i loved it!
He's got another series out now but he doesnt paint the pages. I forgot the name of the book but im sure it isnt from DC nor Marvel.

Yep... his penworks are great still but nowhere near his watercolors! I dont know if he even inked the pages coz his pencil sketches looked more attractive IMO.

Incredible, you've really captured the tragic nobility of this version of Cap, really great stuff. I did a bust of Earth X Cap out of red clay, only trouble is i lost him somewhere lol.

Thanks man. No, sorry, all I have left of making the original is the head rough in clay before I cast it in wax and tooled it. No build up pics either, being that this is an old sculpt. I wish I did keep the buildup pics of the clay...ahhhh. The pose is based off a full on pencil drawing in one of the Earth X books...

I too love the Earth X series. Fell in love with the Captain's design the minute I saw it. I didn't work with Alex on this, nope - I just wanted to do a sculpture in his style to see if i could do it. Plus he already had one in progress with the Shifflet Bros. at the time.
I made a bunch of copies of this sculpt to give away as a promotional to get work and as gifts to a few friends.

He sculpts very good too...he had brought over the Wolverine bust and the Spiderwoman bust unpainted...he's got such a great subtle touch with clay that the paint just rolled over his pieces and made them look so alive...must be all that refference??? His Shazam sculpt is absolutely incredible.
