Description watercolour

Mary Wollstonecraft, 1759 - 1797.
This illustration, along with my illustration of Mary Anning and portraits of many other trailblazing women, will be available as part of a fundraising exhibition by The Global Women's Project .
The inaugural 'Trailblazing Women of Herstory' exhibition will be in Melbourne from 25 November to 10 December (across the 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence) at Neospace Gallery in Collingwood. Sale of artwork and prints will support The Global Women's Project, a Melbourne-based nonprofit organisation resourcing women leading grassroots change in some of the most disadvantaged communities in the world.

Mary Wollstonecraft lived an unconventional life for an 18th century woman, and she fiercely defended the rights of women to an equal education with men and to participate fully in society. She made her own living, travelling and moving often. She was not afraid to put forward her ideas and arguments, even (or especially) in the face of men who considered themselves above her.
I chose Mary Wollstonecraft as a trailblazing woman to illustrate because I have always been inspired by her independent thought and passion for what she believed in (and the way she didn’t hold back in her critique of men like Rousseau!). I love that she wanted other women to experience independence, and believed that women were rational and capable when society held that they weren’t.

You are making lot of new art in the last months, and i see improvement in every details, one of the things i noticed is how you handle colors combination, i think it's more and more harmonious, I do not know if I can explain. I just wanted to tell you that even if i am unable to comment to everything due to lack of time i see your works, your journey and how passionate you are about it, and i think is great also how you work, experiment and improve. This is one of my favourite, both for the subject and the composition and what the illustration rapresent. Good luck with the exhibition!
