Those memories are always sad but a bit beautiful, thinking about the good times that never got to be completed. Although I've found over the years most moments end terribly. People suck and will end up hurting you and ruining any amazing moment you might have had with them, so with things ending at a point where they could have still be awesome, perhaps that's for the best since you'll always think back and see for all it could have been?

I'm still friends with these people and we still play D&D together, we just struggled to get the group together for an extended period of time due to other commitments and end up just forgetting about it. We play a different campaign now which is also on hold until lockdown ends and it's safe to socialise normally. But I do agree there are awful people out there that don't care who they hurt, it's better to just cut those types out of your life and carry on being yourself until you find people who like you for you.
