Awesome! I do have a weakness for jet-powered blondes with large lazer guns.

I do too. I think, traditionally, they're supposed to encounter a monster and then simply scream until a REAL hero saves them, but sisters are doin' it for themselves now.

This really belongs on a comic book cover. Very retro 1950's sci-fi style here.

Thanks! I don't think it'll be used as a cover. I know I'm not going to put someone else's art on the cover of any of my books. I have a sensitive ego that way.

Okay, I have to say that this pic totally fooled me. When I saw it in my inbox, I had no clue it was your artwork until I checked the name. Part of that was the spanky new vibrancy of your scanner. The other part was the fact that, well, this looks NOTHING like your usual style. And for that, I take my hat off to you. Impressive work.

Well, for the most part, I try to keep a theme going for my DA page. I painted (with actual paint!) some insipid, generic Season's Greetings scenes for businesses to have customized and sent out to their clients, and one of them is a snowman I figure I might post here. No one will recognize that one, either! When I paint, it becomes apparent that I do not manipulate the mediums so much as they appear to manipulate me.

All paints are my enemies, save oils. I love oils, but I seldom have the time or patience to devote myself to a good oil painting.

I hate the "wet" of paints. Given that, I especially hate oils, because they stay wet for so long, but they are a much more "profound" paint than all the other types. The colors are richer and the textures can be made both smoother and coarser. I feel bad that I hate them so much.

I actually love oils BECAUSE they stay wet for so long. It's really easy to make plodding, periodic progress on a picture -- and that's the only kind I ever make.

I could probably benefit from taking more time with things, but if I don't get some sense of accomplishment I get restless quickly.

I find this pretty cool, made more so by the fact that I coincidentally just started reading that comic recently. I quite like how you did that nebula or whatever in the background.

Excellent! I'm glad Quantum Cadet and Space Princess are drawing new fans!
The first time I did a nebula like that was for the "Leela What If" picture in my gallery. This one has far fewer layers, but the design is quite similar. It's pretty hard to convey feathery tendrils of gas with pencils and a pen, but I think it works pretty well.

It's like the girlfriend of that unlucky dude-hero fo those old Space(?) Questa dventure games X3 Roger Wilco, I think.

Maybe? I really gotta confess, I have no idea who you're talking about. Roger Wilco sounds vaguely familiar, but that's probably only because it's a bit of radio slang. The aspects of the character I was most trying to preserve were the blond starfish of hair, the skinniness and the sharp nose.

Absolutely. Can you send a high resolution of your Penny and Patty for me to print on my end?
I'll upload to my web-site and send you a link. I'll need to convert the big version into something usable for you first. JPG if that's okay. They're small.

Thanks! Yeah. I decided to go for a "Warhammer" scale weapon (I used to play the 40k version of that WAY back in the day when there was only one edition; before they had on-line RPGs to take all the fun out of table-top gaming with). I worry that it's still not big enough.
