When youve been out in the woods, have you sometimes felt the breeze that suddenly pass by, ruffle your hair or make the leaves on a nerby tree dance? Have you felt observed or seen movements in the corner of your eye, only to realize nothing was there when you turned your head? It does not have to be a regular nature phenomenon you know, nor your imagination. It can just as much be one of these tiny fellas.
They are called “wind dancers”, extremely small and very shy creatures that most of all resemble a blend between a deer and a moth. The head is round with big eyes and feelers, the front legs belong to a moth, while the hind legs end in hooves - a deer’s body with moth wings and a very silky pelt.
They live in large herds in deciduous forests, their nesting grounds high up in the trees. They eat plants and drink nectar and in the winter they go into hibernation in tree holes and other nooks in wait of the new spring. Scientists have long debated if wind dancers should belong in the mammal group or if they rather are insects.
Something most fascinating about these creatures are the wings, they reflect light and flap twice as rapidly than even a hummingbird. Because of this, wind dancers are one of the fastest flying species in the world. So it’s no wonder if you’ve never seen one, they are way too fast for our human eyes and brains. And because of their incredibly shy nature they never stays long enough for us to register. But they are there, and believe me when I say that they have their eyes on you. No worries though, wind dancers are very peaceful creatures that never would harm anyone even if they could.
This particular one is a female. Her name is Rue.

On a sidenote, Rue is the smallest artdoll Ive ever made, she fit to stand on the palm of my hand, waaay smaller than my regular dolls that is mostly 3 times the size fo her. She is completely handmade and ooak (one of a kind), with a sculpted face and feet. With the softest fauxfur for pelt and shimmering wings. She is posable in feet, tail and neck and her feelers are a pair of feathers.
