Description when the term "urban jungle" was coined i wonder if the person had this in mind.

truly a literal urban jungle in my opinion and im loving this. i think its beautiful enforcing nature amongst skyscrapes.

this is not the city but well, suburbia never had more highrise than it does in singapore

im rather happy with how this turned out

When i saw this i knew why you had sent it to me. My imagination just ran wild with this.

Is it a jungle in a urban city or a city in a wild untamed jungle?

One thing kept popping into my head if the jungle was taking over the urban city surely it would use those pillars as legs and run away from the growseque mishaps that man has cause on its peaceful world and run to a place that is known as "Give me peace".

The plants are angry its taking whats theres back from the humans and there will be no survivors. KILL THEM ALL

I'm glad you stopped at that gardrail its like the part of your mind that stop you moving when your scared you know you want to run but you just can't get your legs to move. You on the side lines watching the jungle take whats its back and you can't do anything about it.

love it

very nice perspective and great angle, I like how the building in the bg takes up all of the sky. Nice textures in the plants... very nice indeed.

Oh My Wow.. this so reminds me of my childhood in Hawaii. Almost every overpass around the area my dad worked look just like this. I remember trying to peel the growth off the side of a column and couldn't budge it.

As for composition, the guard rail at the bottom is worn just right to give it that organic look, regardless of being man-made. It frames the piece nicely. For me that guardrail looks like the start of it and I work my way up, even though it's against the angle of the overpass and stairs. All the comments about contrast are dead on.

Into the fav's bin this goes, there's nothing like finding something that brings back memories. See now I can forget about those overpasses and make room for something else with this picture being around. Thank You.

i think the correct term is concrete jungle. concrete jungle is used to describe an urban setting where people live in apartment buildings (like in hdb flats in singapore) and there is very little trees and grass. singapore has a fair amount of greenery, hence 'clean and green garden city', so the title doesn't really fit. other than that, its quite a nice photo even though the black is too strong.

damn, I cant believe there are places that look like that. if you've ever seen england it's grey everywhere, concrete is the be all and end all of the urban sprawl. I'd love to live there though, all that nature literally right out your window.
more than that though; as has already been stated the shot is composed brilliantly with the overhead walkway thingy making a wonderful dividor for the image keeping the color to the bottom of the shot and having the apartment block in the top part creates a sense of distance not only in physical terms but the growing difference between man and nature, and the way that the human idea, endeavour or eden is so continually just out of reach by the fences that we build. it's making me sad now

Coming from a fellow Singaporean, I must say I'm darn proud! You should be working for the failing tourism industry. LOL.

The angle and contrast of greenary vs industrial building is great. I reckon this is quite an accurate representative of what Singapore's about. Yin and Yang and all that moolah crap.

And by the way, I love your choice of subject title. Afterall, a picture is nothing without content.

This would definately make a great print!! The irony in this photo invokes several disparate feelings. I first looked at it and found the concept humerous enough to laugh. Then, I was saddened by the fact that this really is what our environment is becoming, and already is in many areas. I could see other people viewing the breathtaking beauty of the green covering the highrise and feeling optimistic and joyful about tying nature and humanity together. The fact that gray railing encloses most of the green makes me get a feeling that our civilization is trapping and and closing in on nature. There are so many different interpretations! That is why I feel it would appeal to a good number of people and would certainly make a fine print!

Oh, and the technical details are astounding. You picked the perfect angle. I think this is the best part of the photo. A little off to the left or right, above or below, and it just might have lost it's impact.

I really like the contrast between the green and the urban imagery.
I added this picture to my favorites. There's something about it that demands to be looked at repeatedly.

FanfrigginTastic. You've nailed the title and image together perfectly. Not only is the concept fitting, the photo itself is technically great. A bit large to view, but that aside, the division of elements is awesome...the dynamic angled line of the bridge, the vertical lines of green accompanied by the highrise of concrete and glass in the back. And the lower portion is nicely tucked away in a swath of green held back by a steel baricade. Awesome.

Mwuahaha, take that!
