Description Acrylic on canvas, showing the Beaufighter that dropped the French flag over Paris during the German occupation.

30x24 inch, 3 months work, a commission for the Airbase museum at coventry and their planned Coastal Command memorial.

This painting has driven me crazy, but I think it's worth it

28th Feb, updated photo to one taken in natural light.

Hi Laura, this is a great piece of work and makes a very dynamic image. Love the Victor and Vulcan too. Just finished latest aviation commission - I really enjoyed it but have only loaded it a bit low resolution. I'm so not happy with how my Vulcan sunset pic turned out - not what was in my mind's eye.
I suppose it gives me the incentive to do better.

Weather permitting the Vulcan is coming to Shoreham this weekend which is just down the road from me. Camera ready. Hooray!

Hi
Thankyou so much, and for the fave too. This piece took a LONG time to do. I think my Victor/Vulcan piece is my personal favourite so far...

Are you having the urge to paint another Vulcan then? I was looking forward to seeing her at Waddington, but sadly she cancelled because of her accident

I ALWAYS have the urge to paint a Vulcan! Fingers crossed for Shoreham.

Whoa... all of those little windows... I'm guessing you wished everybody didn't want a view of Paris from their buildings!

I love this piece, the perspective you chosen is breath taking. Composition is awesome. The only quibble I might have (and it's minor) is that the Arch de Triomphe kind of steals the show from the Beaufighter as a focal point. Then again, the two are so close together that you can't help but look at one and then the other. Both immediately let you know what the setting of this picture was and the story at the same time.

If you know a little history, you can look at this painting and know whats going on, without it being said. I love it!

WOW. All that detail! 3 Months you say? That's a good attention span you've got there :'D My oooonly gripe is that with so much detail in the background, the aircraft doesn't stick out as well! [But don't get me wrong, this is great work!]

I get that. To be honest that was something I was worried about too. Really had to go crazy with the highlights and shadow on the Beau just to make it as clear as it is... I had another week planned on more detail, but I'm glad I finished when I did!!

Thanks
