Coloring I have found just takes good tools and lots of time, I tend to go over the same spot with a light color then the actual color, then shade with a dark color. And then mix the light and actual colors in to blend and finally shade once more with the dark color. And I do that for every piece if the picture. TIME CONSUMING!
