Personally? I thought that Cumberbatch did a great version of the character, who has a slightly tweaked backstory to the one in the Original Universe, and was easily the best thing in the movie. Brilliantly acted, great in action scenes, and gives the impression that, if significantly ticked off, he WILL squash your head with his bare hands.

Though it'd never happen, I kind of want to see what him being in charge of the Enterprise in alternate universe where he was still able to keep himself secret. It would certainly make interactions with lippy aliens darkly funny, what with him teleporting himself over to commence head squashings.
