Description
So, one of the traditional jokes about my OC, Midnight, is that she has an especially confusing family. I've even had some requests to plot out a family tree, and I just happened to have a charting program, so I gave it a go.

Now, this really isn't a "proper" family tree, as you can see. The program had a fit trying to work everything out, so I went with what I could use.

That being said, I don't honestly think it's as confusing as everypony tends to make out. More confusing than your average family, certainly, but I don't think it's some eldritch abomination of a lineage.

Notes:

-I cheated and lumped all of the other mane six into one singular entry. If I had of added all five, the chart would have gotten needlessly complex.

-Trixie's father has never been stated in my fics, save an off-hand remark that he perished before Trixie was born.

-I'm of the opinion that Twilight Sparkle is, for all intents and purposes, Spike's mother. That means Trixie is his mother as well, and Midnight is his sister.

-When Midnight was first created, Princess Luna was only ever supposed to be an 'adoptive' mother, that she took advantage of what she contributed to that night to be able to push in and become Midnight's mother, to have that in her life.

Then everypony believed that Luna *must* have had something more to do, contributing magical essence or something.

*THEN* Kairaven, InkwellPony, and cloudwatcherpony all drew her with features she could only have gotten from a Princess, the 'Princess' muzzle, the inky blackness around her cutie mark, and in some cases a slightly larger horn.

So, uh, there you go.

-I frequent the giantitp (Order of the Stick) ponythread, where one of the in-jokes is Midnight's lineage. If I had of included *all* the jokes based from there, this chart would have gotten a lot weirder.

(For example, Midnight has Nightmare Moon as a 'sister' who inhabits the same body as her, Midnight has about three children, including possibly 'Midnight 1'. InkwellPony is also another of Midnight's children. Who she sired with Nyx. Who might also be her sister.

The ponythread is *weird*, and I should note that I am not the one who come up with the strangest of the strange, strange relations. Blame them. )
