BACKWARDS || FIRST || FORWARDSFINALLY this page is done. Ohgod it took me so freaking longgggg to finish this one, and I don't even really understand why.
Maybe it didn't actually take me all that long, it just felt like it considering I have been waiting since, like, episode two to introduce this wonderful, wonderful thing called Sonata the Murkrow.
Have I ever mentioned that Murkrow and Honchkrow are my favorite flying types? Possibly my favorite darks, too? (Well, tied with Scrafty now.) So let me relay to you how catching Sonata went in-game.
It was, like, 1 AM or something, (right after I lost Vivaldi, I kept playing, I think,) and I was in the forest, and I was in a bad mood, because I'd just lost my second pokemon and I had to shepherd this lady with her Chansey through the forest, and at best I was gonna get a Buneary, with the worst case scenario being...A Cascoon. I wasn't happy.

YOU CAN CATCH MURKROWS IN THE FOREST AT NIGHT.
So then TWO SHOWED UP IN A DOUBLE BATTLE
and I was like HOLY SHIT. DO NOT KILL THEM.
I was so lucky that that Chansey decided to be useless as always, instead of killing something I actually wanted.
They were both females. I always catch female Murkrows! I have never found a male! It drives me crazy!
But Sonata is a beast, and she has Insomnia. Ah, Insomnia, how I love you so much.
Also, cue obligatory lapse of trainer's faith in their abilities that every Nuzlocke must have. If you're wondering where Donna is after the intro, I think Esper probably put her in her pokeball so she could have a rest.
Damn I forgot to color one of Esper's pokeballs like a Dusk Ball! That's what I caught Donna in in-game. Dx
As to where Josh disappears to after Esper drops him, I really have no idea. He's probably lying unconscious next to her or something. INCONSISTENCIES, HAHA. Speaking of inconsistencies, where the heck did Esper's bag go? IT'S DISAPPEARED.
So everyone welcome Sonata. I know you haven't seen much of her yet, but I hope you will grow to love her as much as I do.

I LOVE Murkrow and Honchkrow, even with their Defense. And the way you stylize them is amazing. For this and her mysterious, "wise" personality, she is my instant favorite.

hmm let me tell you something when it comes to starters i either take them new hatched woth good moves or totally lvled up my lil sis was able to train her oshawott to a lv 79 sammurott female so you better try harde if you want one of mine come back when you think you find something nice (hint: i prefer scary ones or cute ones example a togepi) not to bother you having to look hard i can wait a loong time

Buneary = actually surprisingly boss. I raised one in my Pearl Nuzlocke, and whoa, they are SERIOUS. Howard is mine; he's hilarious because he's a male, but it makes him that much more wonderful to draw.
Go away Russ II. Silcoons. :U Why do they even give you the option of catching Silcoons. Just have higher-leveled Wurmples.

I know, right? XD I ended up catching a wild metapod in my leaf green run and I was furious because... well... it only knows Harden. And even when Russ II evolved... he didn't learn any moves. He was a Beautifly that knew Harden. ><

In a way, yes. She doesn't think she's getting kicked off the team, but that Esper is paying so much attention to this newcomer, who is a stronger flying-type, intimidates her.

When Leonard died in episode three, I drew his pokeball at the foot of his grave, and decided to stick with that idea for future deaths, as well. I'm glad someone noticed that little touch.
It was a little abrupt, but that's honestly how it happened in real life, too. As you can see, Sonata never did get an answer to why Esper was so down in the mouth, so I think I've left some unresolved bits having to do with Vivaldi's death that I'll come back to later on. :>
I'm working on episode eleven now. I just wish I could figure out a way to get these pages done faster! The way I write them, the story is unfolding for me only slightly faster than it is for the viewers, haha. I want to get pages out ASAP, dangit!

Just as an idea-thrower here, but have you ever considered Esper running into other trainers burying their Pokemon or perhaps running into an abandoned grave (and possibly Esper and her Pokemon decide to clean it before they go on)?
Unresolved bits are always fun; especially when the readers don't recognize it until later on when you bring the matter up again.
Hahaha!! Yeah, if only. Time is an artist's best friend who doesn't come visit nearly as often as we would like.

That's a good idea! Very interesting, I could do some good things with that. The team'll be approaching the burial tower (can't remember what it's called in 4th gen Dx) soon, maybe I'll do something there!

I will forever miss Vivaldi but Sonata looks very promising as a character. And Murkrows and Honchkrows are one of the only dark type flyer's so I very much agree to their awesomeness.

Sonata might not be a replacement for the Dapper Insect that we lost, but she is her own character and she'll be a lot of fun. <3

You were pretty lucky to find two of them. Also, great that the Chancey didn't kill them. I'm little worried about my upcoming Platinum run - I'd love to get a Murkrow but then again, apperance rates and that Chansey. Hnnng.
This was such a nice update, I really liked it. :> Art is great as ever, especially the way you draw Sonata is so pretty.
