Description BACKWARDS || FIRST || FORWARDS
***INTERLUDE: stepping into the future...

(Changing the way I'm titling these slightly. I've been calling them "episodes" casually, so now I thought I'd add it to the title itself. ^^)

And here's the fifth installment! A lot happens in this one. Also it's full of very long panels. I don't know how that happened.

....Seriously those clowns creep me out.

('Suffering Skitties', by the way, is a play on the phrase 'suffering cats', which I heard in a movie and frequently use IRL. IF YOU GUESS WHAT MOVIE, you get a cookie!)

I get a new wardrobe, and a new bag! We get a new teammate! We learn some new moves! And, lo and behold, Josh evolves! <33333 Frequently fearing the loss of my pokemon, I did a lot of grinding before this first gym. (Ever since my Yellow days I've dreaded having the rock gym be the first one. ;^; )

I swear in the next one we'll FINALLY get out of this crazy first area joint and move on to more exciting things. Like Valley Windworks. Where we will get a new teammate!

(By the way, the pokemon on route 203 and in Oreburgh Gate were a Starly I accidentally KO'd and another Zubat respectively.)

Aaaaand, no Vivaldi, because he still hadn't evolved and hence hadn't learned anything and I did not use him at all this leg of the game. xD

Enjoy! There'll be a real fight next time! Maybe. xDD

Haha, that's funny! I had a Geodude named Quartz, too! And it was a girl! Too bad she wasn't not the same nature as yours.

Haha thanks. xDD I had fun drawing those silly panels. SUFFERING SKITTIES!

So THIS is where Quartz comes in and where Josh evolves. I was wondering where on earth they came from. :3

Yep! Like I said, she never talked in the first episodes she was in, and I just tended to generally forget her because I wasn't enjoying drawing her. xD

Have to agree with you - Geodudes are a little more difficult than other Pokemon. Hopefully she'll evolve into a Graveler and then Golem (Golems are much easier to draw - though that may just be my opinion). :3

EsperEzekiel In reply to shanree [2011-04-21 03:10:39 +0000 UTC]

I agree that Golems are easier, though that may be due to my design preference - I like Golem's look much more than Geodude and Graveler.

shanree In reply to EsperEzekiel [2011-04-21 03:29:43 +0000 UTC]

Agreed. I was never really a huge fan of Graveler, personally.

RANDOM QUESTION! Who is your favorite Pokemon from the original 150?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

EsperEzekiel In reply to shanree [2011-04-21 03:42:12 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, original 150, that's a hard one. I think I'd say Growlithe or Arcanine, more towards Growlithe because I think they're adorable. But I also love the Eeveeloutions from 1st gen. (Well, I love all the Eeveeloutions; is there anyone who doesn't? xDD)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

shanree In reply to EsperEzekiel [2011-04-21 04:33:26 +0000 UTC]

Haha - true true. The Eeveeloutions are just great - I'm rather surprised they didn't come up with a steel or ground type yet for that.

Funny you mention Arcanine - that's my sister's favorite. My favorite (besides the Eeveeloution - who is Jolteon and second Umbreon) would have to be... probably Sandshrew. I'm not sure - why did I ask such a hard question???

EsperEzekiel In reply to shanree [2011-04-23 19:28:57 +0000 UTC]

I was really hoping there'd be new Eeveeloutions in the fifth gen, but alas. :C I've got an Eevee in my Black game now, and I'm trying to decide what to evolve him to. He's got a special-boosting nature so I'm thiiiiiinking maybe an Espeon. >D

shanree In reply to EsperEzekiel [2011-04-23 19:39:47 +0000 UTC]

Yups.. le sigh.
But ooooo~ Espeon is always spiffy. >D Alas, I've never been able to get an Umbreon or Espeon.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

EsperEzekiel In reply to shanree [2011-04-23 19:41:56 +0000 UTC]

Ohhh, you should definitely try to get an Espeopn sometime! They can be REALLY powerful. When I recently played Crystal, my Espeon Rook pretty much swept three out of four E4 members and took care of most of the champion, too. xDD

shanree In reply to EsperEzekiel [2011-04-23 19:45:43 +0000 UTC]

Oh niiiiiiiiiiiiice!!
I've always wanted an Umbreon, though - maybe I'll switch it up. >3
Just to let you know (since you're the only one who really knows about my making a comic as well), I'm gonna collaborate it with my sister which means nothing will be posted till the semester's over (next month). But I have sketches!!

EsperEzekiel In reply to shanree [2011-04-23 20:00:50 +0000 UTC]

Oh that's so cool! If you have time to shoot me a note or something, I'd love to see sketches! I'm glad you and your sister are collaborating, family collaborations are always fun!

will send you the sketches through e-mail

EsperEzekiel In reply to Aerilic [2010-12-03 19:00:24 +0000 UTC]

I was hoping someone might comment about that! <3 It's going to be a running gag; I've been abusing Bulbapedia IRL during this Nuzlocke, so I had to find some way to include it in the storyline.

It would be amazing if you could actually access Bulbapedia in the real game.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Aerilic In reply to EsperEzekiel [2010-12-03 19:24:47 +0000 UTC]

Yeah it would !! I go to Bulbapedia for all my researching needs :3 but sometimes it's down and I have settle with Serebii.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

EsperEzekiel In reply to Aerilic [2010-12-03 23:19:25 +0000 UTC]

Serebii is good for frequent updates - I was checking for B/W info until they stopped being able to really post it - but it's so difficult to search on. :C

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Aerilic In reply to EsperEzekiel [2010-12-04 00:30:19 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, Bulbapedia's format is just easier to go through. :3

I still check Serebii every day though, just to see what's up. Serebii's good for quick updates in game mechanics and stuff like that.

EsperEzekiel In reply to Aerilic [2010-12-04 15:29:13 +0000 UTC]

Yes, that's definitely Serebii's strong point. ^^

I am not looking forward to when he becomes an Infernape and I can no longer carry him on my shoulders. :C But I am looking forward to when he becomes an Infernape and KICKS POKEMON ASS.

Once I got the hang of Zubat's design, they're also really fun for me to draw. But I had to practice a few times. I have a lot of ugly sketches hidden here and there. xD Thanks for the compliment, though, I'm glad you like my way of drawing 'em.

ShoelessCosmonaut In reply to EsperEzekiel [2010-12-03 19:27:21 +0000 UTC]

Oh man, I feel the same way about Jackson. No more easy ball of fluff to doodle or perch on a shoulder. Damn it, why do pokemon have to evolve to be so shoulder-unfriendly.

I warn you, if she dies, I TAKE THAT COMPLIMENT BACK. DO YOU HEAR ME?! /emptythreats

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

EsperEzekiel In reply to ShoelessCosmonaut [2010-12-03 23:18:29 +0000 UTC]

Because things that are big look tougher. :C I've gotten to the point in my game where none of my pokemon can fit on my shoulder (Or, in Zoey's case, in my hair,) anymore. It makes me sad.

WELL IF IT MAKES YOU FEEL BETTER in game she is still very much alive. 8D /spoilerstrololol

Arcel-Windwing [2010-12-03 17:06:10 +0000 UTC]

Excellent, I just beat the Galactic agents at Vally Windworks and so far no deaths... close calls though, my Kricktot survived one encounter with 1 HP! Named him Motzart.

I made the decision to name each of my pokemon in my Nuzlocke Challange after famous dead actors or musicians, like how my Turtwig is Nielsen after the late and hilarious Leslie Nielsen.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

EsperEzekiel In reply to Arcel-Windwing [2010-12-03 18:53:36 +0000 UTC]

Aww that's wicked awesome! You know, Monet, my sassy Roselia, survived an encounter with 1 HP right after I first got him and I was like "Okay, this is fate."

That's an awesome way to do it! I usually pick names of fictional characters for my pokemon, or just names that pop into my head and I think fit (took me forever to think of a feminine name for a Geodude. Of course, later I thought of "Roxanne" and was like DAMN I wish I'd thought of that three days ago,) but that's a really cool way to do it. ^^ And Mozart is a great name for a Kricketot, I can't believe I thought of Vivaldi before Mozart. xD

EsperEzekiel In reply to Arcel-Windwing [2010-12-03 23:20:02 +0000 UTC]

That's an awesome team! Lucky that you got an Onyx, I would've MUCH preferred that to my Geodude. :C

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Arcel-Windwing In reply to EsperEzekiel [2010-12-03 23:25:28 +0000 UTC]

Same here, I got lucky in the Mine, Onyx broke out of both my Dusk Ball and my Great ball before I remembered I had Stun Spore... xD

... I am also waiting for a week before going back to the Windworks so the first thing I see there is the little ballon guy xD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

EsperEzekiel In reply to Arcel-Windwing [2010-12-04 15:34:25 +0000 UTC]

Catching 'mons was really damn hard for me for most of the game so far because I hadn't gotten lucky with ANY kind of grass-type yet. Not even in Eterna forest - though the pokemon I did get there is pretty amazing, I can't wait to bring her into the comic - so I had no stun spore, or sleep powder, or ANYTHING to make catching either. I wasted a lottttt of pokeballs trying to catch things without putting their HP down. xDD I finally got Monet, but now my team is so established I have yet to even use the 'mons he's helped me get.

(I got wicked lucky in the Marsh Game, though, I caught TWO Skorupis! I mean, WHAT. But I had two poison and a dark on my team already, so I haven't really used them yet. I got one male and one female, I named them Jafar and Malefecent. xD)

Oooh, Very Nice, I have gotten lucky, partialy thanks to doing the no doubles rule, So I have a pretty good team... *sigh* Happiness evolutions suck...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

EsperEzekiel In reply to Arcel-Windwing [2010-12-05 15:15:03 +0000 UTC]

Happiness evos are annoying sometimes, BUT I have found that, I think, the fact that the pokemon cannot faint makes them happier faster, because on bulba, it says that every time a 'mon faints they lose one happiness point. That can add up fast. xDD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Arcel-Windwing In reply to EsperEzekiel [2010-12-05 17:27:41 +0000 UTC]

Yes, indeed, that does help, and having a happiness checker is going to help a long way... I just have to keep walking around with Astair(couldn't think of a better name, so went random), until he likes me enough to evolve.

Halfling-9s [2010-12-03 16:41:53 +0000 UTC]

Yay evolving!
Greg, my Charmelion, owned the heck out of Brock after he evolved 8D.

I've been grinding like all heck too, though I wanted to get a Gyrados before I hit S.S. Anne so I -tried- to swap-level my Magikarp, who I can't remember the name of now, but failed..so I put her in the Day care.
[Also, this amuses me to no end, my Meowth named Satine had a Nugget on her. ]

EsperEzekiel In reply to Halfling-9s [2010-12-03 18:58:01 +0000 UTC]

JOSHUA DIGIVOLVE TO-- oh wait wrong franchise.
Sweeeeeeet. 8D I probably could've kicked butt with Josh in the rock gym since he got Mach Punch through evolution, but I was terrified over putting him against rock/ground-types, so mostly I smashed those rocks' heads in with Quartz. 8D

Swap-leveling Magikarps is like the most tedious, ridiculous thing in the world. I have to be honest, I have never bothered with a Gyrados in any of my playthroughs ever, Nuzlocke or not.
(Also, that's awesome. 8D I love Meowth/Persian.)
