Well I heard that Twixie Answers had a similar issue over on Tumblr with Trixie and Twilight's relationship together hitting that same snag in the road as you do: however there IS a Gender Changing Spell that Twilight cast on herself to have Snu-Snu with Trixie in order to have their first foal... followed up some time later when Trixie used the spell on herself so she could knock up Twilight so she could have their second foal.

I know some people are annoyed with this but honestly itβs a very real issue. Iβve known so many people. And sure adoption is an option, and so is sperm donors, but itβs really hard and really expensive to get approval and/or to do it. And AJ has been shown numerous times to be pretty bullheaded and cut off from society. And she might have some other issues that will make it hard.Β
Iβm sure itβll all work out, she is trying to rationalize a broken heart at the very least.Β

I understand where she's coming from but, 1 Its an antiquated way of thinking, Equestria is Industrializing, 2 AJ you live world of Magic and are personal Friends with some of The brightest minds in the field.
If AJ just wants kids, Adopt, if she wants them to be Biologically hers there is both Scientific and Magical solutions, I've seen the things this fandom has cooked up, and Big Mac has a Budding, Cannon, romantic relationship and who knows what the Future will hold for Applebloom.
