So... dat controversy. I can sympathize with people disliking negative views of disable people, but I don't feel Derpy represents such a view, or really even a disabled person. Unless being clumsy is being disabled.To me, Derpy is a mother. She is a mailmare. She is a timelord's companion. And though the storm has passed, and hasbro has said they are not removing Derpy, I know the fandom will never stop loving her. The love we have shown for our first fan character these past few days proves it.

Yes... This is the derpy we love. I think we can all agree that Derpy is a single mother, a mailmare, and a muffin connoisseur, with a delightfully innocent outlook. A sweet, caring, dependable, hard-working, kind, gentle, responsible pegasus.
And that city hall was made of wet cardboard. Seriously, that place needs to be decommissioned stat.

Gah, this is adorable. And it was really cool seeing you working on this!
So in my head canon, Derpy is wall-eyed (obviously) and a little bit clumsy (okay, a lot clumsy) but ultimately a good mom and a pretty decent mailmare when she isn't dropping things. So maybe she isn't the sharpest tack in the box--there are plenty of people who are and still live productive lives and are good parents and do good work. Or maybe she's perfectly normal mentally and is just really, really clumsy. Those people exist too. It doesn't really matter to me either way--we already have a character with ADHD, so why not one with a slightly lower IQ?
