EDIT: Please note that this drawing was done before I watched "Sisterhooves Social", so I hadn't had any idea of Sparkler being Dinky's sister.

So far, I've been really liking the "Dinky's adopted" theory. Or... hm, maybe Sparkler's Derpy's goddaughter? That could be cute. And I don't think we have to worry so much about this fanon dying because it's been established for quite a while. Maybe it'll contradict canon, or maybe fanon will expand to include Sparkler (I really, really like that idea), but either way, I get the feeling it'll live on. There's too much sweetness to ignore it.

From what I've heard from the fandom, some have subscribed to the idea that Sparkler is part of a BigBrotherBigSister type of program that has taken on the role of Dinky's older sister (which is an absolutely adorable idea). One idea expanding from that was that Sparkler took on the role so that Dinky could learn to use her unicorn magic effectively and to act as a baby-sitter for when mommy is out on her mail patrols. Besides, someone has to help Dinky empty Carrot Top's fridge when Derpy isn't around.

Maybe Derpy loaned Dinky to Sparkler so they could both particapate since they don't have siblings of their own. Like Applejack entering with Sweetie Belle because Rarity wasn't there.

The Mayor of Ponyville looks somewhat older, although she shares the same "bodyshape" like any other female pony. So why not Derpy? She was also seen in Rarity's flashback, so she could really be older than we think. °3°

This is so precious! Though the title does make me feel bad for Sparkler. I'm pretty sure Derpy doesn't favor Dinky over her older daughter (step-daughter?) but I hope the fandom doesn't dismiss one or the other as discontinuity. It's just too cute! DX
