This is such a beautiful picture.
I absolutely adore it and I have no idea about ASCII art whatsover so I can't comment on the process or technical details. Well I could but I'd be lying and wouldn't make any sense.
I find it amazing that such incredible work can be created with text, I always think of text as being a cold, hard pointy thing and not something that can be used to create an image as warm, soft and as loving as this.
The subtle glow on the characters is perfect.

Very nicely done. They look really furry. Just the faces are a bit messy, but I don't know if that could be helped.
It would be a good idea to use GIF or PNG for ASCII art, JPEG makes the pictures slightly blurry (and the filesize is still bigger than with the other formats).
