Description The timeless beauty of the Gibson electric guitar. We've ALL nodded our heads, stomped out feet and had smiles brought to our faces by this supreme soundaxe at the hands of some pretty talented folks.. An homage to the axe.

A photo manipulation practice gathering together bits from my collection. The real trick here was in what I left out. I swear this took me several hours just turning layers on and off.

Thanks! Very kind. I've got a couple more coming now. After having so much fin with this a series seemed like a good next step. And it should be about fun while making some cool eye candy and learning..

Coming from you my friend, that's huge!

I thank you very much! I can't tell you how many layers I've got turned off on this.. That's the fun, but can be the craziness of photo-manip. There's so many directions so I stay with simple. It's more what you leave out, than what you put in...

And as for GIMP, I've done some fun stuff with it - though these days it just isn't stacked as deep with features as PS CS4 or equivalent. But it's the artist more than the tool..

Cheers

Wow! I'm IN LOVE with this!

The guitar is beautiful, much more beautiful than my cream and black one sitting in my basement that I haven't touched in about a month.

You're very talented with the photomanips! I wish I had that talent but I can't do much with GIMP and Corel 4 but I do my best XD

The detail is incredible! Excellent work!

the details are awesome

Thank you so much for that. It's nice when contemporaries can see and appreciate something, even give constructive criticism" from which we can grow.

And the details are what it's all about. Sometimes the work we do requires more details and then other times it's all about what you leave out than what you put in.

You are very welcome
How long did it take you to finish the entire piece?

ethnobot In reply to revois [2009-12-21 02:37:40 +0000 UTC]

Six hours total on the Photoshop work and then another two hours turning layers on and off. So either complete hours. EEeegg gad! I may break down and post the whole thing one day, but for now I'm happy with it.

Thanks again - very kind.

That is quite a bit of work. Good job, though, it looks like it really paid off
You should be happy with it, it turned out wonderfully. I think I'll add you to my watch in case you submit more like this.

I really appreciate that. And the watch is awesome, thank you! These insights and input serve as great incentive to do more.

I do definitely plan to make this more a "series" with musical instruments, since music is such an integral part of what I do. (and I know I'm not the only one of that school of thought.)

You're welcome! Hey I think I did in fact join.
It's shown up on my toolbar on my page/wall.
If it's still pending, let me know - or go ahead and please make it "live".

Great stuff! I love Coasters description of how you came up with the idea/and name..
nice.

Yeah, you joined. I just didn't see your icon when I looked a moment ago, haha.

Coasters is pretty hilarious x) She's very blunt about everything. And it's true, most of our time was spent trying to pick a good name.

Blunt and being direct is good. It leaves nothing to guesswork.. Yup, I'm in the group.. (Mooo hua hua!! - grin)
Seems you all have good chemistry / good things come from that. And as for the name, simplicity is always a good thing.

but sometimes the art of it is in the subtlety and guesswork...that's what keeps thing interesting, right?
Simplicity is good. The world is overrun with people who design overly-extravagant ideas.
