The size is a great symbolism itself, showing mecha is more in control and Sally is fighting what she has become, however is powerless to do so, and weeps seeing Sonic suffer both physically and mentally at what Eggman has done to his beloved Princess.

Symbolism here is very nice. You have inner Sally reaching to Sonic, but if she weren't there it would be Mecha Sally just walking normally dragging Sonic along. The robian representing seperation, divide or a wall.
