A first image for the Aldrin class cruiser, a early human ship that pre-dates the founding of the Systems Alliance or the discovery of the prothean ruins on mars.

A very rough, textureless and unfinished 3d model of this ship can be found in the Mass Effect 1 game files, and can also be seen in Mass Effect 2, when you give Cerberus the control of the Collector base.

I tryed to rebuild this ship but its still work in progress. Have to clean some of the details and textures are partly still placeholder.

The Aldrin class is a United Nations Starship first seen in the 2120s to have a larger and more potent ship to support the newly formed colony Lowell City on Mars. Since mankind had no knowledge of extraterrestrials at that time, and private space travel was still in its infancy, the Earth Navy did not yet have to compete with military rivals, and therefore the ship only is weakly armed by today's standards and only has an ion drive instead FTL engines. The VASIMR Drive (Variable Specific Impulse Magnetoplasma Rocket) is powered by a nuclear reactor and able to do a trip to Mars in around 40 Days.

Similar to the smaller Geneva class light cruisers , the Aldrin class loses alot of her advantage when the Prothean ruins were found on Mars in 2149, and humankind learned about Element Zero and Mass Effect technologies. The ship became obsolete almost overnight. When the Systems Alliance was formed 2149, the new organization where in the need of new ships and the Aldrin class were retrofitted with a Mass Effect Core and an FTL drive. Although the ships had grown old, they could still be used as reliable surveillance or transport ships.

Between the years 2158 and 2163, the Systems Alliance demilitarized all of their Aldrin class ships and sell them on the free market and to civilian operations. Many of them still flying around even today.
