Description
This summer, I'm attempting a challenge to find and identify a hundred species of insects (76 species on the list as of today). As part of it, I have paid some attention to the numerous small moths seen everywhere - and realised how beautiful and fascinating they actually are.
And incredibly diverse. Geometers moths - or family Geometridae - alone has some 26,000 described species. Often thought as nondescript whitish things, they have an amazing variety of colours and patterns, and of course, each species has a unique life history and ecology. Here are six of the species I have gotten to know this summer, illustrated with Procreate. Zoom in to see the fine detail!
