I agree with this. I never understood why Harry pays almost zero attention to Ginny (and if he does, it's because she's Ron's sister and therefore part of their gang by default), and then suddenly he's crazy over her in Book 6 (and then seems to forget about her a lot of the time in 7 again). If JKR wanted them to have a realistic relationship, she should have started building it earlier. HarryxCho is the only realistic relationship in those books.

Book five is still too late to do it, considering he doesn't even see her for most of the seventh book. And so what if she was able to be herself around Harry? You call that buildup? Plenty of people are able to be themselves around Harry. Cho was the only girl who I felt like couldn't in the later books...and that's what makes them realistic!

Why exactly is Hermione being slutty in HBP? And your Harry from is utter bullshit, there are loads of scenes where Harry shows that he's grieved over Sirius.

No, I agree that he didn't really seem to miss Sirius as much, it was like he did in the beginning and then that's it. I would've been much harsher on Kreacher, too.

I have noticed that about Harry. But I think it's more that he just doesn't like to talk about how he feels. That's why he couldn't understand why Cho kept talking about Cedric; she deals with problems by talking about how she feels. I think Harry just wanted Remus to write to him as a sort of Sirius replacement. I have to admit, sometimes when I was reading Remus's lines I pretended it was Sirius saying them, because I kind of used him as a Sirius substitute, too. They're really different, though, so that doesn't work for long.

I guess this counts as a spoiler, although about four years post-publication it shouldn't really matter. I was once an H/G supporter and still think that it could have been great if Ginny had actually been /in/ books 2-5...

2) The reason that we rarely see Ginny in books 3-4 is that she rarely speaks up in Harry's presence and, after all, the books are almost always written from his perspective.
