Yeah, I'm going to color Izumu sometime soon and also revamp Naorin.

Well, there isn't a Kirin or Baku in Touhou. That's why I had to make them cos they are awesome. XD

DERP Baku is a stalking naked ladies. :> Ohoho the other one looks so innocent and clueless, I wonder how she would react.

Hmm, could be. Well at least I wasn't the only one who never sees that. I can't remember ever seeing it actually, but I could be mistaken. :/ I suspect it's that plus, mostly het dudes who haz a sad cos tehre are virtually no het options in Touhou and they think (character) is sexy and just gotta find a way to make them interact with a penis for reasons of wank. A certain type of dudes do this for almost any series that is majority female cast.

Hanging in windows is rude. But youkai don't seem to understand that.

I was wondering if you've done a revamp of Naorin recently and I somehow missed it - I always found her super-cute, but in a waify-girly way I guess. Mind you looks can be deceptive. *yet to refresh my memory with her profile* Izumu looks quite the bad kitty here, peeking in on her friend like that. (Is it Kirin-girl's personality to be head-in-the-clouds, or have you freeze-framed it just before she has time to react? x3 )
Heh that last comment ...
I think OCs are quite personal in their creation - I don't mean the hap-dash Walfa-sues type - so I always save some love for friends' rare ones. Yours are really cool regardless ... I just happen to love Omega's daughter too much to find beef in her parentage being of the dread forbidden type. >,>

LOL well, it's nothing personal. But on principle I across-the-board discount any OC/Canon relationships cos it stinks of Sue and self-insertitude MOST OF THE TIME. Not saying it's impossible always for it to make sense, just that its 100% not my preference in fandom. :/ Hopefully no one will take my fandom preferences personally if anyone around here has used OC's in that manner... I didn't remember that character you speak of, until recently ; if other people like them, I'm not gonna say it's morally wrong or they are all horrible human beings or anything. :/ I don't like 99% of modern country music either but that doesn't mean i hate people who like it... I admit I have my own weird standards about certain things. And I can be maybe obnoxious in overstating them. XD
I also usually don't like OC's, but there are some people who make good ones that aren't Sues and I'm cool with that. I had approached this as more of a design thing where i just wanted to make some cute youkai girls from beings that don't have a Touhou representative... it's accidental I ended up ascribing personality to these two >_< I still don't intend to insert them into canon or have them associate actively with canon characters, probably I'll just play with them randomly. Who knows. This is weird for me
Naorin just got caught in surprise at that moment, she can 'feel' someone is there I guess. I think of her as someone who's usually very peaceful almost to the point of seeming timid, but if you push her she is more than capable of lashing out. That's incorporating a little bit of Western and Middle Eastern 'unicorn' lore, where the unicorn or karkadann was said to be EXTREMELY fierce when cornered, but kirin lore as well-- they despise dishonesty and can be violent when confronted with it, despite being usually a peaceful and sacred beast.
In that case, Naorin wouldn't have a reason to dislike Izumu on that count, she can be rough and indelicate in her manners but she is a fully straightforward person. Kinda like Marisa but without the lying and theft, ze~ For me this is a weird experience where I just drew something as an experiment and then it inspired some actual emotions in me... dunno O_O it was a happy accident the way I ended up drawing her face made me see something in her resembling a real personality

Hey, feel free to be assertive with your disdain, I enjoy it. ^^ Because you're right, ah, about Sues and self-inserts and their powers over the normally-impenetrable hearts of the Canons. (Although I love the hell out of between-Canon shipping, and I'm sure they have their vehement detractors too. *coughcoughacertainhearthrobbingkoakumacough* )
[Side-question: a character is an OC only if they're made for a universe which already has an existing canon, right? I've been calling my characters OCs when they're from novels I'm planning ... I wonder if there is a distinction. For one I know a certain topless devil is fully-conscious of himself being author-inserted for selfish-indulgences, regarding wedlock with Remi. He existed before his creator's discovery of Touhou though, I think. It's the daughter which is more worrying.]
I like your idea of giving embodiments to the monsters yet-untouched by ZUN. It actually fits with the Touhou spirit (for want of a less-kitschy term); I know Logos and her fiance have come up with some cool kids along the same train. Also having them play around on their own just seems fun and harmless, if anything they can foray into Gensoukyou for awhile but need not have an elaborate courting backstory with certain Canon characters. Do you recall and her alternate version of Gensoukyou without any canon characters, but mixing canon species of Youkai with untouched ones? I really like the sound of that.
Izumu is a non-kleptomaniac-delinquent Marisa, while Naorin is a serene pond with a leviathan waiting to burst from it if you repeatedly rub her the wrong way ... hmm I could certainly grow to enjoy the antics of these two. >u> And random fortune that your scribbles tumbled into the beginnings of a back-story for them. There might be more, ahem ... chemistry if Izumu WERE a lying sneak, but that's playing to the stereotype of all shippings needing to be fire and water. I'd like to see what you make of 'em. ~

Mm, nah I sometimes refer to my regular (non-fandom) characters as OC's. I don't know if other people make a distinction btw the terms or not, maybe they do. I just qualify it if it's fandom related, like 'a Touhou OC'
and yeah I know Reef's characters too, that's what inspired me to want to work on these some more actually. It just took me a while to get around to it. Not all OC's are crappy, its just the majority of everything is kinda crap usually.
YEah but if I made Izumu into a liar then she might as well be just a different version of Marisa. XD I already decided she says 'ze' and that's bad enough, *cough* I think it just fits with her being composed of many different wild animal components and the fact that she eats nasty evil stuff and spends all night tangling with demons... she may not have good table manners all the time, but her way of life is to help everyone have peaceful dreams, so actually she would be a trustworthy person to have around. As long as you can deal with some faux-pas.
I think it might be more interesting that she appears to be really mischievous and even occasionally grotesque in some ways, but behind that is just a good heart and someone who is rather simple in her honesty (I don't mean 'stupid' by that.) Rather than a stereotypical Foe-yay kind of thing. There's a reason I prefer Keine/Mokou to Terumokou She's like a guardian of sanity and peace of mind, she deals with all the shit so you dont have to. That makes her a little rough just cos she's seen it all, but her nature is to be helpful and protective.
