┊ What does he like? ┊
Apples [ fun fact: the state food of NY is the apple ], baseball [ New York Yankees, New York Mets ], football [ New York Giants, New York Jets, Buffalo Bills... and then there's college football with a few different teams ], basketball [ New York Knicks... then the Syracuse Orange with college basketball ], drinking [ New York is one of the largest wine producers in the country; he also enjoys beer--Saranac Beer is from a brewing company in NY, and the beverage itself is named after a popular lake in the Adirondacks ], reading, working, cooking, fishing [ this might be a surprise, but he actually does like to do it since NY has so many lakes ], farming [ another surprise! farming makes up quite a bit of NY's economy, and many areas upstate are dominantly rural ], camping / hiking, northern USA [ woo northern represent ], enjoying natural scenery. . .

┊ What does he dislike? ┊
Stupid nicknames, conservatives [ NY is one of the more blue / liberal states in america ], being degraded / treated as inferior, people who think that New York City is the only part of New York [ unfortunately, the stereotype that all people in New York come from the city is incredibly wide spread, and some people are ignorant enough to believe it; the confusion between the two is the reason why New York is formally referred to as New York State to differentiate it from the city, however, this doesn't always help--one thing Anthony hates more than anything is being referred to as NYC ], the economic state of New York [ like most states in the country, New York is suffering some major setbacks--and unfortunately, NY is one of the states that has it the worst; NYS has passed quite a few different plans to try and turn things around by promoting business growth, new jobs, and cutting taxes for the middle class--one of these plans is New York Rising ]. . .

┊ What's good about him? ┊
Observant, soft-hearted [ this is not a lie ], tolerant, open-minded, intelligent, protective, witty / a good sense of humor [ if you like dry humor ], very in-tune with nature, hard working, charismatic, loyal, basically very multifaceted, respects other cultures and holds them in high regards [ since New York is a gateway for new immigrants, he's incredibly welcoming and eager to learn as much as he can about different cultures ]. . .. . .

┊ What's bad about him? ┊
Arrogant / self-centered / egocentric / etc. [ basically he's in love with his state and himself ], blunt, resentful, usually comes off as rude [ even when that's not his intention ], moody [ one moment he's relaxed, but in another he's on a rampage; this comes into play with the fact NY is a mixture of both rural areas and cities ], a little too patriotic of his sports teams. . .

┊ Appearance ┊
At first sight Anthony appears to be a rather physically healthy looking guy. In this case, his build is sort of similar to a marathon runner’s; tall, slim, muscular in the legs and arms, and broad in the shoulders. His face is more pointed than round, and the same goes for his nose and chin. Skin tone ranges from seasons; in the winter he appears more white than he does in the summer. As for hair, it’s simply brown; it’s curly and not terribly short. Anthony’s bangs go off to one side of his face (they do not cover his whole forehead), and so does his curl (which represents Long Island—it is not erogenous). Other features include high cheekbones, a defined jawline, slightly sunken eye sockets, and a little soul patch right under his bottom lip.

Now, considering clothing, it tends to change throughout the seasons. During winter (or important events), Anthony's wardrobe mainly consists of long, black trench coats with the accompaniment of a white dress shirt and a black tie. However, casual wear during the winter is really typical of an everyday New Yorker; long sleeved shirt, jeans, and sneakers. Also, since the farms and most parks/activities Upstate are on break for the winter, it makes sense to say that Anthony's attire takes on more of a "businessman-like feel" to represent the Downstate regions of New York during this time of the year. As for spring and autumn, it tends to be a mix of both. And, if you haven't guessed already, summer is the main time of the year where his wardrobe expresses Upstate. Why? Well, first of all, summer is the season where most farmers Upstate get down to business, and not only that, but Upstate experiences its highest influx of tourists during this time. Even so, he usually hangs around in a casual t-shirt, jeans (or if it's hot enough, shorts) and sneakers. Sports team accessories are quite common as well.

In a sense Anthony lives a bit of a double life that changes throughout the seasons. Since New York is so diverse (with it’s cities and farmland), he basically comes off as a "countryman" in the summer, and a "city guy" in the winter.

♔♔♔

┊ Personality ┊
Arrogant, obnoxious, and rude with an incredibly dry sense of humor is probably what you’ll think Anthony is just from your first conversation with him. But really, there’s actually a bit of a deeper side to him. Sure he has his undesirable characteristics, but he’s really a very loyal, intelligent guy on the inside. Yes, conceited and full of himself, but no, never a fool. He’s not necessarily "always on the go", and actually enjoys having free time to relax and just be himself. Anthony’s a little bit of a softie for nature too; during the early fall or summer he doesn’t mind taking a few trips upstate to the Adirondacks to observe the autumn leaves or hike through the mountains. But when you consider apple orchards, that’s when he gets a little competitive. As expected, he thinks his are the best (better than Washington's), and he frequently partakes in quite a few apple festivals around NYS (the Lafayette Apple Fest, for example). However, business seems to pick up during the winter for him and slow down during the summer, because hey, someone needs to get that cow corn growing.

But the reality is Anthony’s just a little bit misunderstood by people. He may have a rough outside, but his inside is something to be loved. A loyal heart is rare to find, but most people might not realize he has one by the way he presents himself. This comes into play with how most people view New York State; at first thought most’ll think “Hey, it’s just some dirty place with rude people!”, but once visiting, they’ll realize there’s a bit more than the typical stereotype. NY sort of has a hidden beauty that most people don’t think of right away, you have to explore the entire region to get the true feeling of the state. The same goes for Anthony himself, except you need to get to know him entirely before making a truthful judgment on him.

I have to say this, thank you.
You make me proud of my homestate and happy that some people actually use facts.

I created a NY myself and even though he's been developed as of now, there's always room for improvement, anyway.
Thank you for not making my state look bad.

It is true, I get so pissed off when people automatically think that since I live in NY, I must live in NYC.

That's another good thing to NY, Niagara Falls and the Horseshoe Falls.

Welp, unfortunately, the most known thing about the state is NYC :/ However when I tell people I'm from NY I always say I'm from Upstate, or Syracuse. However, most people probably don't even know where that is (wow!).

I'm gonna have to say my favorite part of NY is the Adirondacks uvu I miss my camp there.

I used to go to one of the lesser known lakes, Lake Piseco. Everyone was so nice there and they'd have parties on the beach at night. Ahhfdfjd I miss it so much

(( A nice 'stereotype' around here that I know of New Yorkers that really fits with a loyal heart is that they stick together and support each other in really rough times. Even when things seem to be falling apart they ban together and do what's right. Respect.))

(Yeah... the city in particular has some harsher stereotypes... but, that's okay. I mean, America has some harsh stereotypes when it comes to the rest of the world. Some are more 'accurate' and more deserving than others, but opinions from people who only 'know' from hear-say don't really know any better, do they. ... I love being American ;v; ...It's just sad to me when I hear some of my own friends talking down on being American when they themselves are, indeed, American It never made sense to me... I'm not talking about talking down on the government or politics, I'm talking about saying they hate living here in general. Kind of breaks my heart.)

{ welp, the stereotype that upstate nyers don't even exist kind of hurts my feelings, and at the same time it makes me feel a little resentful towards nyc. idk, i just hate having to always tell people i'm from UPSTATE ny, because if i don't, they'll think i'm from the city.
anyways, there's stereotypes with everything. i don't get /too/ flustered over them because most of them aren't true, but w/e. i always hear people saying they hate america, but that's probably because a lot of the news on tv is about something negative that's going on in the country. plus, some people think its 'cool' to hate where your from and that it makes you 'different' and 'rebellious', and i admit, i was like that too until i learned more about my country. }

(Yeah, it's nice to come out of ignorance would you say? And just pick up through reality that things are... in a different light than they first appear. And I'd understand separating upstate NY from the city... in Colorado, Denver is so different from the rest of Colorado, that they're very much separated into two different things. Metro Denver is 2.7 million people out of 5.1 in the whole state, the rest mostly spread out along the range with some mountain towns. so it's not nearly as 'extreme' a contrast as New York But when people say that they didn't like their stay in Colorado because of their experiences in Denver? That's messed up. ((My friend knew people who acted like that, they said Colorado sucked because they stayed in DOWNTOWN Denver the entire time. Down Colfax street. Dafuq? ;n; it hurts me.)) I really don't like Denver all that much (I commute there for art college twice a week, traffic is BRUTAL, it's like suddenly when you cross into the city lines all those experienced Colorado drivers turned into crazy Denver squirrels 8c I don't get it!) but yeah.... it's the rest of the state that I focus on.. 9u9. I have a Denver OC for Denver. XD I'd have to be one of those guilty in 'assuming' when someone says they're from New York they mean the 'city'... well, because NYC hold most of the population... not because no one lives upstate. Haven't been their in such a long time, but it's gorgeous. ;v; ))
