Description The Freeport Iconic Wizard

A few years ago, I did an illustration for Green Ronin's main Freeport book that featured a couple of debating wizards (see below).  The folks at GR liked my design so much, they made him one of the setting's iconic characters.  As such, I was asked to do a full-body portrait of him, mostly so other illustrators would have a good reference to work from as my original drawing only showed him from the side.  I don't know anything about the actual character they've created around him (assuming there is one), but in my mind, his staff contains the soul of a powerful red dragon that he managed to overcome and trap in that form.  The staff gives him great magical power, but is dangerous to use since tapping its energy risks freeing the angry beast.

While this art wasn't specifically created for any particular Freeport project, it was used on the cover of the adventure, Return to Freeport, Part 5: A Storm of Sails.

Freeport is a "Pirates of the Caribbean" inspired setting, so I approach it from a 17th and 18th-century POV, instead of your typical medieval fantasy.  It makes the character design a lot more interesting, I think.
