Ben- Hello everyone! I've quite the surprise for you today!

But before I go off on one of my tangents which nobody will read (lol) know that this is my first Kiriban!

has won my secret Kiriban, by becoming my 200th watcher! his request was simple, a sweet picture of Jamie and her lovley soles, which I am all too happy to provide! I hope you like it buddy, and thank you for the watch!

Now, onto my tangent!

Are you surprised by this picture? So was I! For those of you who don't know, back in the day when I was a wee little Ben, I was a traditional artist. I worked with arcylics, then graduated to oils. For years I painted traditionally, until I went to college about 5 years ago, and became a digital artist. Basically, I translated all my painting to digital format, the style was the same. After a while, due to many issues in my life, I gave up art altogether, and for 2 long years it lay dead and buired.

The day came when I thought up Everyday Grind, and I picked up art again, but instead of painting, I did cartooning, which you see all over my profile. This image is a throwback to the past, to who I used to be, and how I used to work. It gets me very emotional, because it reminds me of why I quit painting in he first place.

I started this image as a cartoon, but for some reason, I just kept going, and going, and then started painting. I don't know why. As it slowly came together, I felt a part of my old self melt away, and I feel so happy with the way this turned out! In a way, I feel as though a negative part of my past has been conquered, and I can move on, and be better for it.

I haven't done a digital painting for a long, long time, so it is good to be back! Even more, with this image, I have overcome another fear of mine, the insidious background! I have always hated backgrounds, always. I just feel I can't do them. But with this...I again let my hands take over, and told my mind to shut up and let go. To be honest, I hardly remember painting the background, it was as if my hands knew what to do, once my mind stopped telling them they couldn't.

I am proud of this picture, very proud. It means a lot to me, and is very symbolic, in a way. I hope that you all like it, especially those of you who never knew I was a digital painter in the past. There is a lot of me you don't know, and a lot I didn't know about myself! This image has helped me with that, and if it sparks even the slightest emotion in you, then know how glad I am
