huh. I'm lookin' at this again after forever, and also because I've been doing more marker coloring than usual lately - but how do you do your gradations? Are you making heavy use of that clear blender marker, or do you have a couple of select markers that are constantly near death and thus easy to shade with?
Personally, markers are my fallback when things need done and the computer isn't working for me, but I don't usually do much more than flat color with them. Any shading is with solid areas of color. I'm thinking about maybe investing a little bit of time and drawing more with them, though...

I think I might have used the clear blender on his face in this, but I usually don't use it at all. I get the colours to blend by layering them quickly while they're still wet. It helps to have a lot of light and/or neutral colours to layer with. Starting with light colours and going darker... I just keep adding layers and the colours blend together as I add more. Markers are fun :>

Ah, thanks for the reply!
hmm. I see. I usually do that, but just with really small areas because the bleed is never very large...
So I guess it's just layering and layering and layering. How many colors do you use when you're gradating between two colors? Just the two, or do you pick a few in between (like if you're doing a gradient over a large area?)

I guess it depends on the colours I have at my disposal. If I have enough in-between colours it makes it a lot easier to do a smooth gradation, but you can do it with just too colours if you keep layering. It's good to use the fat end of the marker to make marks that get lighter as you put less pressure on the marker. You really have to make fast strokes to use markers that way though.

I tend to just use the fat ends anyways, because most of my markers are older prismas. The thin ends were all but useless until the recent redesign..
Thanks for all the comments!

that bg matches, its just the shadow around it that plays a trick on you eyes. I really thought you made the bg transparent somehow, which I couldn't figure out since it was a traditional piece. So good job with that really. ^^ I love how you colour sooo much, the shading on his gloves is amazing.

yeah, but the colour gets all pixely on JPGs and I don't like the way it looks. PNGs are my friends (and like any friends, they annoy me a bit sometimes too XD)
